Shout by Tony Bates

127 Hours 2010

What a difficult movie this must have been to film. Cheers to Danny Boyle for managing to create a film that feels open and energetic despite being filmed almost entirely in one location with one actor. His hyperkinetic camera style that you see in Trainspotting and 28 Days Later maintains the illusion of movement and dynamism even when the subject of the movie is quite literally pinned to one spot. I recall being impressed by A.R. Rahman’s score as well as the sound production as a whole. When Franco begins to cut and hits that first nerve, the sound effect in the theater just about knocked me out of my seat.
