I found this show by looking for the best HBO TV series ever. Calling this the best HBO series is not likely IMO, that honour would go to Six Feet Under or Band Of Brothers. However in this series a lot of time is spend developing the characters on the street, the police at all levels and the corrupt politicians. The only thing that might have been portrayed better would be how drugs have ruined lives at the user level. There are no cliff hanger endings between the next show, no crazy action scenes, and some seasons don't have a nice wrap up at the end either. This show is a gritty look at life on the street and we get a deeper sense of what everyone is going through and that's what kept me interested right to the end. Well done.
