Star Wars: Andor 2022

I appreciate the more mature tone, intelligent dialogue, moody atmosphere, and contributions to the Star Wars world-building. Diego Luna is awesome, and Cassian Andor is a complex, interesting character both in Rogue One and in this series, I'm glad we get to explore more of him. Luthen and Dedra are absolutely captivating antagonists as well.

Some things I didn't like: the show takes a weird turn halfway through this first season. Once you get to it you'll know what I mean. Spends about 3 episodes on a weird side story that doesn't feel like Star Wars, and doesn't do anything for the plot or for me. It felt like they were trying to fill a bit of time. I was glad to get back to where the story was originally taking me.

Also, the "spy thriller" thing had a nice surface mood to it, but the plot had a few too many holes and irritations that held it back from truly shining as a complex, intriguing espionage story. It didn't quite land for me, though I appreciate the effort to do something new. The plot also lacked direction and felt meandering at times.

If you like Star Wars, you will enjoy most of this show. Just need to be patient and let things set themselves up. Despite its flaws it is a wonderful watch especially if you liked Rogue One.
