Speaking of the spaceship, Ridley Scoot stages the cat-and-mouse game between the crew and the killing machine, which is deadly in various ways. This spaceship looks as if it is lived on and used and thus contributes extremely to the world building, which probably also ensured that so many more or less good parts of the series followed.I must confess that I have always watched one of the newer parts and am glad to have finally seen the first part.
