A lot of stuff that doesn't make sense here for me. Like, why send so many people to investigate that phenomenon ? The Story works with less people as well. They are just throw-ins to die.

And everyone is literally on Spocks case the second they crashed on that planet, which was hardly his fault. The hostility and, again, bigotry towards him are over the top. The Crew should know that he's got their best interest at (sorry) heart. Even McCoy is unusally hostile. Also, Spock was willing to sacrifice himself to save them.He's not putting himself above the rest.

I know they wanted to show that sometimes logic doesn't help. It's not the be-all, end-all of things. Neither is decision based on emotion. You have to weigh it. Which is pretty much was Spock did in the end, and what saved them.

Yes, we do get some insight into Spocks character but all in all the episode doesn't resonate with me.
