That's a very traditional episode. Could be a TNG episode. Fly through space, deal with crew dynamics, find a slightly fantastic anomaly, solve the problem.
It's incredible how fast this show tells you what character to like (Janeway since she is a strong and caring leader + the doc since he's funny, insecure, over-condident and aspiring foreshadowing a remarkable character development), who to dislike (mainly mansplaining Neelix) and who is obviously not very well-written (Torres is and - even worse - stays a hot head but doesn't evolve into much more [measure that against how initially angry DS9's Major Kira evolved] and who you are supposed to be totally indifferent of (that's all the rest of the crew till the end of the show [except of course Seven and Naomi]).
