Once you accept that this Spider-Man is different (and not in a particularly bad way) to previous renditions and the idea of the character in your mind, you can accept that this is a pretty good movie. Maybe that's an easier sell these days in a "post-Spider-Verse world", where the thought of this as another different interpretation of Spider-Man is less shocking or restrictive. Does Peter make some dumb mistakes in this movie? Yeah, sure. But I also think the movie does a good job of demonstrating that he's just a kid, who's had this power thrust upon him, and he's trying his best to do the most good with it.
