Might be one of the few tv shows I’ve seen were its lack of polish actually adds to its wavelength. Everything looks so off, there’s a lack of complex stage for most of the time and the protagonist is in constant conversation with the audience, but it all plays honestly. While the comedy comes from the pure banality of the situations that Pera and co. Construct, it still manages to view the simplicity of its conversation with such a curious outlook that never comes off as mocking. If anything, it invites you to hold his hand and waste few minutes with people who probably you will see in the street or at least one who feel idealized enough without losing a sigh of their humanity. Gives me the feeling of the few Joe Swanberg films I saw.
