I just... I try to stop myself raining shit down on things I don't like. I try to think deeply about why something doesn't click. I try to find something redeemable, if under-utilized, about an individual cast member, setting, or plot point. I made a judgement call to read a negative review hoping it would not bias me too much or make up most of what I might say. Independent of any specific criticism of one scene or awkward dialogue, without drawing any analogies to the larger Walking Dead world, and wholly independent of what might be a salient opinion of poor execution...
This show just doesn't make any damn sense. I don't know how to offer anything about something so fundamentally disconnected from what humans are, TWD franchise has established already, or what's supposed to constitute anything remotely coherent if you're trying to, you know, tell a story you suspect you want understood. I've never been so hollowed out by a show since Twin Peaks, and at least that garbage has people who've cared enough to explain for hours how I'm just not receptive to his metaphors more than I should simply believe Lynch is insane.
I've suspended a lot of disbelief to carry on with any show associated with the CW, but cringe and cheese are at least technically a style. This show just betrays having a brain, and then struggles to put a knife through it, no matter how much you beg.
