"Ant-Man" won't be remembered movie that will irremediably change the future of superheroes, yet it's as good as a small-scale story for a small-scaled character can get. Like in "Guardians of the Galaxy" we got a lowlife scum criminal with a big heart who finds redemption, but there is no world to save nor true superpowers involved. It's your average comedy-infused heist movie combined with crazy visual effects. The protagonist being able to continuously shrink and grow in size in a matter of seconds opens infinite possibilities, and the gimmick gets well exploited here.
It's unfortunate that Egar Wright didn't get to direct it himself, because it does definitely look like a good match for his style and usual tropes.
