First of all...Margot Robbie will forever BE Harley Quinn...theres no doubt about that at all. But this movie will be forever remembered for being just...meh.
The actors did a good job...with the little they had to work with. The story is not up to par with the wealth of good stories from the comics, and many of the lines are so bad I visibly cringed several times during the movie according to my better half. I sure hope Christina Hodson will do a better job with The Flash and Batgirl...but I've not got high hopes.
Cathy Yan did a decent job directing, but she also needs to pick it up and get going. This is too tame and weak. This is not what Harley Quinn, nor the Birds of Prey, is supposed to be.
...and don't get me started on the costumes. I have never seen a movie with worse costumes than this one. And before you go off on me, no...I don't mean that Harley should prance around in hotpants the whole movie, but whatever it was that ALL of the characters were wearing, it sure as HELL wasn't costumes. More like something thrown together from ruined clothes Goodwill would send to recycling.
I really wish I could give this movie a better rating, as I love a lot of the comic series from DC and would love for the movie universe would thrive, but when the result is this mediocre, I really can't.
