I wonder what the fork happened to the screenplay writers. Did they all get replaced by an intern after last season? Or they just don't give a fork anymore?

Exhibit A: Louis' assault. The trial begins, the prosecution makes him testify... and then the defense attorney presents the motion to dismiss based on a wrong date on a warrant. Are you kidding me!!!???? There is no way on Earth the lawyer wouldn't do that as soon as the trial started, or even before. Other than, obviously, opening a new storyline for Louis. That's just lame storywriting, and another sad reminder of what this show has become. Thankfully there are only a few episodes left...

Also, if you get arrested based on a bad warrant (i.e. wrong date on it), and then a whole lot of new evidence comes to light... you don't get to walk scott free, do you? The inadmissible evidence gets excluded, but everything else still stands against you, doesn't it?

@ajperez81 agree it's sloppy and would have been the first thing the Prosecution would have said, but if a Search Warrant is bad then everything found is 'fruit of the poisonous tree' and inadmissible
