BlacKkKlansman 2018

it was okay. This important story was intriguing but i think it suffers from a lack of delivery for such a serious subject matter. I haven't read much about whether there was a certain style Spike Lee was reaching for but for me it just came across as almost a parody - the costumes felt like they came from the wardrobe of the 70's show...(maybe Topher Grace got a special discount for costume hire) The film lacked some substance...was it a comedy? it was a real mish mash. (Even the score which was wonderful) didn't fit the tempo of the celluloid. I would have dug it if somehow we had the style of American Gangster or The Deuce and the grittiness of Mississippi Burning. The real footage at the end was a ballkicker and is widely available on you tube but maybe it was added because the actual movie lacked the impact the real footage portrayed. What i think i am trying to say is if Blackkklansman did its job properly we wouldn't have needed the news footage at the end....at least my man Prince soothed me in the credits...may he rest in peace.
