Man, this episode was harsh: emotionally gut-wrenching and quite frustrating, in terms of plot decisions. The problem with time travelling is that time travel itself will always be some sort of Deus ex machina. Whenever they hit a roadblock, plot-wise, it's just too damn easy and tempting to simply reboot everything by sending someone to the past. And they did just that, here. And it wasn't nice to watch, it was a lazy option, a cop-out. Three seasons of character development, of us getting emotionally attached to some characters and hating others with our guts, all down the drain. What's worse, a potential season 4 could be season 1 all over again. At this point, a spin-off would probably work better (call it Travelers Atlantis, Travelers Universe, just don't call it Travelers Origins), but I wouldn't really want to see that.

I would love Travelers to keep going strong for another couple of seasons, or more, but if this is the path they're taking, I'd much rather have "Protocol Omega" meaning "series finale".

On the bright side of things, I'm cool with the series ending like this, as I'm into open, bittersweet endings (I'd even bump my score up a notch, should that be the case), but that final scene left a bitter taste in my mouth.
