Well, this is the 3rd Nicholas Sparks novel turned movie I've seen now and I think he may need to change up his M.O. a little. If people are still surprised at the "twist of fate" in all 3 of them I would be shocked. I'm not saying it isn't still entertaining, just becoming blatantly obvious what's coming. The only other problem I had here was the tumultuous 24 hour period they spend together during the hurricane. She dogs him out for being insensitive with Scott Glenn's character, he retorts that she has given up who she is, then they fall in love, then she hates him because she missed the call with her son in the hospital, then they are back in love. Like I said, all in a day, which is a day after they've known each other one day. Was kind of struck how old Lane, Gere, and especially Scott Glenn were looking. Rating wise, I'd say The Notebook is a step above with this and Message in a Bottle about the same as each other.
