I hate to say it, but this season has really dragged. This season's story should've been told in half as many episodes, because there's way too much filler. I used to like having as many episodes of shows I enjoy as possible, but now there are so many other things to watch that I just don't have the time for 16 episode seasons anymore. The Brits have been doing it right for decades: short seasons of 6-10 episodes that tell the story that needs telling.
That, and this season deviates from the comics in a major way by killing off a major character, and I think they've significantly screwed up the future of the show by doing that.
I'm sure the last two episodes of the season will be great, but hopefully Season 9 will be shorter and less meandering.
