I wonder if the "alien" from Ganymede is an evolved protomolecule or one of those who sent it to our system.

That does seem like the obvious big question at this point. Found myself leaning toward the latter (and appreciating that even long-time Earth-hater Gunnery Sergeant Bobbie Draper seemed to be thinking on what it meant), but... Still catching up, so I'll find out soon enough... maybe... :-)
