Early December I decided that when the worst Christmas stress was over, I'd sit down and watch all the Star Wars movies again. This got even more important to me when I heard about the death of Carrie Fisher. Rest in piece "Princess". Maybe someday I'll meet you in a galaxy far, far away...
Even though I wanted to do this very much, I dreaded the first film. It's some of the absolute worst the Star Wars universe has to offer. Though, the fact that it is the worst doesn't mean it's totally awful. There are some good scenes, and the action sequences (when they lack those damn Gungans) are actually quite exciting.
The acting is...well...sub par. Especially for such a high-cost project. Most of the actors either doesn't know how to act, or they were just plain uninterested and was there only to pick up their paycheck.
The whole feel of the movie is cartoonish, and the CGI effects subtract from the overall feel. It just doesn't feel like a proper Star Wars movie...
To be honest...I only rewatched this because I am a completionist. No other reason to pick this one up...
