lol this episode really drives home the stupid supernatural shit they’re writing into the plot. I wish they’d keep it gritty and realistic like the first season.
“Who’s Mrs. Robinson?”, lol.
"So uh, Vince, if you could do just like a tiny bit of postmortem-"
"Chief!"
"I'm just kidding. That would be super illegal."
I really hoped the pacing would pick up a bit after the first two slow episodes, but it got worse this week in my opinion. Every episode has a few moments that make me think 'this could be interesting and get good', but it keeps dragging along. It's slow, confusing and at times straight up boring. There's too much 'noise' that destracts from moving along the case enough to keep my attention. Really hope the second half of the season will be better.
This episode was painfully slow. You really only need to watch the last 10 or 12 minutes.
Another great episode. I’m officially fully invested now. Acting is top notch, including a lot of new faces for me. Loving the setting, including learning mukluk life.
The dirty water situation seems to be pushed harder in this episode. Wondering if people are developing psychosis due to water poisoning from the mill.
Interested to see where it goes from here.
Throws orange out into the darkness. Orange gets thrown back (standard b-movie fare). Shrugs and walks off.
The writing is terrible.
Almost all of the characters are miserable. You feel depressed watching them. This episode was excruciatingly slow, I had to take so many breaks in between. I thought it'd pick up its pace but no , it's become slower. I don't like the supernatural aspects they are adding to the show, doesn't fit the genre in my opinion.
Tbh, I'm not really interested in the case or the mysteries. Tbh that's too much a horror movie and I hate horror movies. But I'm really interested in the location (I hope we see more of the wilderness and nature when the night ends eventually). And I'm interested in the indigenous people. I can't tell whether that's authentic or not but their attempts to save their endangered way of life is one of the most interesting aspects of this season so far.
PS: that's not a Boston accent. That's an RI accent. Go Rhody!
ugh. need clues? we don't offer clues, only drama here.
So it start to become laughable, is this Blair witch project the show ?
Painful slow and boring.
"Sing Sing" by The Bones of J.R. Jones: One of the most pivotal scenes in True Detective: Night Country's episode 3 is when Danvers and Navarro skim through all the evidence they found inside Raymond Clark's van. As they try to find new potential leads in Raymond and Annie's photos, The Bones of J.R. Jones' "Sing Sing" plays in the background, intensifying the sense of urgency surrounding their investigation.
"Like I Do" by Georgina Birch: Danvers and Navarro's hunt for evidence leads them to a hairdresser, Suzan, who they believe was one of the few people aware of Annie and Raymond's relationship. When they enter Suzan's home, George Birch's "Like I Do" can be faintly heard as she colors a local woman's hair.
"Limbo" by Lissom, Julien Marchal & Lowswimmer: Leah's story arc in True Detective: Night Country goes through its own development when she attends a protest in episode 3. As her girlfriend leads her to a protest against the local mine and its water polluting activities, "Limbo" plays in the background, marking the inception of her rite of passage.
"I Follow Rivers" by Marika Hackman: This track plays in True Detective: Night Country's episode 3 when Navarro finds her sister out in the cold and comforts her before taking her back home and tucking her in bed.
I love this show. Cast is great and it's so freaking weird.
Ok, so I finally finished season 1, and yup, Danvers and Navarro are definitely a Hart and Cohle parallel, and this season's case has a direct connection to the Tuttel/Childress supernatural element with the symbols, the stick fetishes in the trailer, the whistling and that deep voice that possessed Lundt.
Season 1 had a thing about time being an endless circle and death not being the end... shudder
...anybody else thinking reincarnation here?
Love how there are like 5 white male characters in this show and of course all of them are evil or dominated by women.
lol the ending. I thought I was watching a detective show, not fucking Exorcist.
Honestly, not as bad as others were saying. This ep was definitely reserved as the exposition ep. Exploring the heartbeat of the town, the moods of the characters, and a little bit of Eve and Liz's backstories. Could the exposition be paced out better, yes. But it's only 6 eps long so this stuff had to be somewhere, although I'll reserve judgement when I'm done watching. But hey, a lot of season 1 was also just Rust speaking up stuff and side stories being explored - it's kinda the nature of True Detective.
What's going on here?
