Why is this BDSM fairy tale of 50 Shades would not work in real life?
BDSM life style is not made out of the blue. It is about people who have tried the vanilla life style and finding out that it would never work out for them. It is sneaking into other people's bedrooms and judging them for what they do.
The reasons why 50 shades never work are many, but the following are my own why these 50 shades of fucked up would never actually work in real life..
1- Anastasia Stelle is nothing but an inexperienced virgin who has never been in a real relationship in her life. People who have seek BDSM relationship are people who have tried and never been successful into being in a normal or what the community would call vanilla relationship. They have seek and never been able to achieve their satisfaction by being into a "normal" relationship or at least what society have been telling them what a relationship should be about.
2- Through out the movie, the relationship was about satisfying Mr. Grey, but in a real BDSM relationship the dominant is all about satisfying the submissive other than the other way around. Being the dominant in the relationship is all about the satisfaction of the submissive before seeking the satisfaction of oneself. Like any other relationship it is about both parties getting what they wanted out of it.
3- The BDSM motto has always been Safe, sane, and consensual, most of self respecting BDSM life style would ban the use of alcohol cause in more than one way it dulls the senses. The person who should enter in such a relationship should have a complete ownership of his or her senses. Which through out the movie was untrue.
The character of Anna Steele enters the relationship to satisfy Mr. Grey which in most of BDSM relationships is not the case.
The case of such relationship is like any other, it is all about the satisfaction. What one party would be by giving up and the other party would be taking, Control.
However, the movie was all about the relinquishing of that control to satisfy the other party which is not what a healthy relationship should be about.
The BDSM community was in a twist cause they have reconsigned that this relationship was built on a not so equal grounds. Both the parties in such relationship would relish on the feeling that they are both getting what they needed, something which the movie has obviously shown to be not the case.
I did not like it. It showed a relationship that was based on the fact that a single party is getting what they want on the expense of the other's misery. Which is a text book of an unhealthy relationship.
I found the movie to be an unhealthy commercial of something that the community regards to be a taboo. It was made to show what everyone was expecting to be an orthodox relationship.
Anyone of us who decided to be with someone they make their own rules whether we share it with the community or not, it is an unbinding contract that we hold to one another..
Another thing that this movie has grossly and utterly ignore..
I am disappointed and not impressed..
I got to say that I have not been mind fucked by a movie like that in such a long time..
It is the kind of movie that mid way you would say "I do not understand anything", and by the end of the movie you would say.. "Fucking Hell, Now I get it. I Wish I didn't but I do"
I am just scared from the way that they keep upping the plot twists and endings of movies that at some point in time you would be watching a movie and then you would realize that it has all been a trick and that you are actually not watching a movie at all..
Another thing that below me away through out the movie was the performance of Sarah Snook. While still not over her creepy performance in Jessabelle. She really took me by surprise with her performance.. I have not seen before someone who can say so much with just their eyes.. I can tell that the 28 year old Aussie is going places after this..
On Rotten Tomatoes, The film has a "certified fresh" score of 82% based on 71 reviews with an average rating of 6.8 out of 10.
The critical consensus states "Fun genre fare with uncommon intelligence, Predestination serves as a better-than-average sci-fi adventure and offers a starmaking turn from Sarah Snook."
On Metacritic The film also has a score of 68 out of 100 based on 22 critics, indicating "generally favourable reviews"
If you are ready to be mind blown all the way, watch it but make sure to not miss anything cause it will add to the inevitable sense of "What the fuck was that? that you already going to get when you watch it attentively.
I got to say I was WOWed and I am not even a jazz fan but the performance and the intensity of the movie got to me through every single step of the way. I wanted to reach out and strangle Simmons for the most part of the movie for his EPIC performance, which IMHO should really snag that best supporting actor award this year..
Last but definitely not least Mr. Miles Teller, allow me to tip my hat for the 27 year old actor who throughout most of his performance I simply could not keep up with his hand speed while he was holding those drumsticks!!! Amazing!
However, his real epic-ness did not drive from his musical performance which do not get me wrong here was simply awesome.. It was from his struggle, you could feel his need, his thirst for getting what he wanted to boarder line obsession and self harm, that made me feel his character in every step of the way.. Really, BRAVO!
Whiplash received critical acclaim upon its première on the opening night of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
The film has a "certified fresh" score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 234 reviews, with an average rating of 8.6 out of 10.
The critical consensus states, "Intense, inspiring, and well-acted, Whiplash is a brilliant sophomore effort from director Damien Chazelle and a riveting vehicle for stars J. K. Simmons and Miles Teller."
The film also has a score of 88 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 49 critics, indicating "critical acclaim"
Peter Debruge, in his review for Variety, said that the film "Demolishes the clichés of the musical-prodigy genre, investing the traditionally polite stages and rehearsal studios of a top-notch conservatory with all the psychological intensity of a battlefield or sports arena."
It has been a while since I was totally and utterly WOWed by a show. This show completly and utterly BLEW ME AWAY for many reasons.. Let's start with the awesome cast..
Kevin Spacey brilliantly stars as Francis J. "Frank" Underwood, An utterly ruthless and conniving politician, he pursues only his own political agenda and manipulates everyone around him to grab influence and prestige, at the potential cost of utterly destroying everyone else to push himself forward.
Robin Wright as Claire Underwood, Francis' wife. She runs the Clean Water Initiative, an NGO, She often gets involved with Frank's political scheming, as an aid and an abettor. She proves to be just as cold, manipulative and power-hungry as her husband, often setting her own lofty goals to work alongside helping with his and letting nothing stop her.
It is a brilliant and epic show with a meticulously made plot that will leave you with nothing less than your jaw dropping to the floor one episode at a time.. WATCH IT.. Cause if you don't, you really are MISSING OUT!
That being said, I have to stay I was blown away by the movie in itself and the sheer brilliance of Cumberbatch's performance which will not be the first time..
The movie not only includes a brilliant performance but the script and the story line is captivating from beginning till end making it totally worth to be nominated for four academy awards this year which are best picture, best supporting actress for Keira Knightley, best directing, and best actor for the ever so deserving Cumberbatch to which I would be so very disappointed if he did not snag that baby home.
As far as the Critical response goes, Another incident where the Critics and I agree. I really ought to have my temperature checked
The film has received positive reviews, with critics particularly lauding Cumberbatch's lead performance as Turing.
Rotten Tomatoes sampled 216 critics and judged 90% of the reviews positive with an average rating of 7.7/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "With an outstanding starring performance from Benedict Cumberbatch illuminating its fact-based story, The Imitation Game serves as an eminently well-made entry in the 'prestige biopic' genre."
On Metacritic, the film has a score of 72 out of 100, based on 47 critics, indicating "generally favourable reviews".The film received a grade of "A+" from market-research firm CinemaScore and was included in both the National Board of Review's and American Film Institute's "Top 10 Films of 2014".
If you have not watch it already, you really have to, even if it did not win the Oscars this year.. This movie is really NOT something you should miss..
I got to say I was really impressed with that movie and was filled with admiration towards Stephen Hawking and it has nothing to do with him being a brilliant physicist. But for being a strong willed human being. A Man who by all means was dealt a bad hand but he never took it as an excuse to not do what he believed in.
I was amazed by Redmayne's performance and how his eyes never stopped shinning even when he lost control over all his motor skills he looked more alive than most of us.
Never for once stopped living life to the fullest.
Another thing that really got to me was the relationship between him and his wife. The intimacy, the communication even when it was about being with someone else, they never stopped talking to one another. An example that we should all follow in our relationships.
Watching that movie made my realise who petty my problems are and how no matter how bad they are, the most important thing about them is that they are temporary.. Some people are not so lucky!
It received four Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama for Redmayne and Best Original Score.
It received three 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, winning one for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Redmayne.
It received 10 nominations in British Academy Film Awards or BAFTA and went on to win three; Outstanding British Film, Best Leading Actor (for Redmayne) and Best Adapted Screenplay (for Anthony McCarten).
The film also received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, with Redmayne winning Best Actor for his performance.
ELEMENTARY - SEASON 3 - Is Kitty Here to Stay?
I am somehow baffled by the recent addition of Ophelia Lovibond as Katheryn "Kitty" Winter: Sherlock's newest protégée whom he brought with him from London after leaving MI6 in Season 3.
For some reason I dislike her and feel that she did not add anything to the show, on the contrary she took away one of the key elements which I used to enjoy which is Holmes and Watson's partnership in everything.
In spite the fact that the character comes with a heartfelt background that makes you feel for her being a victim of a vilont crime and all.
But, I failed miserably to like her, striking me most of the time as emotionless, cocky and abtuse.
I am afraid her presence might put me off the entire show especially with the fact that Liu's presence is somehow less this season..
Anyhow that is my take on Season 3, Let's just wait and see..
The American version starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dean Norris, and Michael Kelly in spite being star packed by no means rose to the level of its Argentine predecessor The Secret in Their Eyes, starring stars Ricardo Darín and Soledad Villamil and directed byJuan José Campanella, that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
The American Version lacked the intensity and the utmost beauty of the Argentine movie..
Both movies are based on the novel La Pregunta de sus Ojos which roughly translates to The question in their eyes by Argentinian author Eduardo Sacheri. *Which is a must read in my humble opinion.
If you were lucky to watch the Argentine version then do not bother with this one cause it really truly pales in comparison and we will leave you filled with nothing but a big fat “Meh”.. Moving on
I got to say when I heard that there is going to be a movie that focused on the
character of Vlad the Impaler not related to character of the Irish novelist Bram stoker's Dracula, I simply could not wait.
Historically speaking I was always fasicated by the character and wanted to know more about the man behind the legend but that movie brought nothing to me but utter and complete disappointment.
Instead what the movie provided was a shotty plot and unbelievable story line that could have been done in a far greater way. Instead the writer provided child like details to portray a superpower that looked believable but somehow was not impressive and for the lack of another suitable word was described by "Meh"
However not for the lack of efforts of Luke Evans the main actor portraying the character Vlad, The somehow fresh British actor did a decent job but that did not stop the story line to not come together as it should have when the actual story is THAT breath taking.
On November 3, 2014, it was speculated that, based on domestic and foreign earnings to date, the film "is likely on the edge of earning enough to start a modest franchise.
I have to be honest and confess that I have always been a sucker for the Brits Sense of humour. The Satire and black witty comedy gets to me every single time as opposed to the obvious in your face HaHa American humour.
So, I immediately took a liking to the movie with the witty, funny, and satiric script which got me cracking up every step of the way and that is a very hard thing to do..
Also, the heart felt feeling through out the movie that I could relate to all of the characters, focusing that in this day and time surrounded by a technology that is supposedly helping us to stay connected 24/7, we never actually felt more alone.
Once again The critics and I disagree, which is a good thing cause I was starting to get a bit worried about myself..
A Long Way Down received negative reviews from critics.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of 21% based on reviews from 39 critics, with a rating average of 3.9 out of 10.
However, IMHO I strongly suggest you watch it, if you are looking for a picture that will leave you light-hearted and thinking.. Well, no matter how much it suck, life really is not that bad..
The movie follows the style of several stories interwoven throughout the plot, same as many successful ones before it i.e. Babel, Crash and that is just at the top of my head..
That being said, here we go..
The movie follows a very cold and truthful view about what people are willing to do to get what they think or believe are their dreams. It is not about that dream per say but about what you have to do to achieve it.. might it be to leave a loved one behind, give up on your hopes, sell yourself to the highest bidder or plain out hurt yourself..
What I liked about it, is how it shows you that after all the dust settles in you would discover that you might have gotten what you thought you wanted but you have lost something far more precious which is yourself and what is left is just not enough..
That the American Dream might not be the fairy tale that everyone is selling it out to be after all!!!
Of course since I liked the movie.. It is safe to say that the critics didn't..
The film received negative reviews.
On Rotten Tomatoes the movie received 16%, of 106 critics gave the film a positive review, for an average rating of 4.1/10.
The site's consensus reads that: "Crossing Over is flagrant and heavy-handed about a situation that deserves more deliberate treatment, and joins its characters with coincidences that strain believability."
Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, gives the film a score of 38 based on reviews from 31 critics indicating "generally unfavourable reviews".
However, I invite you to check it out.. It is worth the watch..
Anybody who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for a good horror movie and by good I mean a movie which scares the living crap out of me that does not involve blood and gore or someone intesnes falling out and limbs torn away..
I am more into the paranormal ghost stories that makes you afraid to look at your blind spot or turn around at night...
This movie did just that.
I do not know if it was the fact that I usually watch movies at night alone or what but that movie truly and utterly freaked me out..
Mixing Voodoo and good ghost story always did the trick for me, add to that a bunch of epically creepy scenes and well placed scares and you have got me hooked.
Once again I disagree with the critics.. The movie's Critical reception has been predominantly negative and the film holds a 24% "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes (based on 21 reviews).
But, it really equally scared and creeped the hell out of me.. Which is as far as a horror movie goes is a success in my book..
Watch it..
Okay, can I just say being a fan of both The Lord of the Rings and The hobbit, In my humble opinon this trilogy actually added depth and background to anyone whoever watched The Lords of The Rings Trilogy.
Being obviously a star packed movie, the movie did not fail to deliver a much anticipated final chapter taking into consideration the shitty ending of the second part. I simply could not wait.
Running for 144 Minutes meaning almost 2.4 hours, I was not the least bored..
I related to many of the characters but I loved the sense of family provided by the Dwarves through out their journey..
Some characters on the other hand impressed me more than others..
Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins: Well, the big eyed actor as always makes it impossible for anyone not to love him or worry about him through out any work he does..
Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield II: Not only did I totally respect him as a character, my favourite quote from the movie is by him.. He portrays a character that makes it impossible for you not to respect, love, and care for him and on the other hand you simply can not help but relate to him on so many levels..
Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug the Magnificent: Well, as always Cumberbatch amazed me with what he could do with just his voice. He made me want to reach out and strangle the crap out of him through out the second and the third part..
How talented do an actor need to be to portray all that with just his voice.. is BEYOND ME!
Last but definitely not least, I titled my hat once again to the amazing work of Mr. Howard Leslie Shore, But coming from the guy behind the scores of:
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Gangs of New York (2002)
and many more, you really can not expect any less..
On more thing, I know 3D is over-rated with most of the movies but Go and see it in Theatre guys.. It really is worth it..
I totally and utterly disliked the movie for more than one reason..
First of all, the utterly used and abused plot that was battered to death time and time again in many movies in which that one did not add anything new.
Second of all, the average performance of both Keanu Reeves and William Dafoe which made me wonder why such good actors would take on a weak movie like this one..
To Justify the three points that I gave the movie, I would have to say that it was due to two main reasons which IMHO are the only good things in this flaky hit..
1- The impressive Fight Choreography through out the movie brought to us by
Jonathan Eusebio, the fight choreographer for Avengers, the Expendables Trilogy, 300, the Bourne Ultimatum. So it being impressive was not really a surprise..
2- The Soundtrack of the movie, which mainly included tracks from TYLER BATES & JOEL J. RICHARD and other artists.
As far as the Critical Response goes.. Once again The critics and I strongly DISAGREE..
John Wick received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
Rotten Tomatoes reports that the film holds an 83% approval rating, based on 152 reviews, with an average score of 6.8/10.
On Metacritic, another review aggregator, assigned the film a weighted average score of 67 (out of 100) based on 36 reviews from mainstream critics, considered to be "generally favorable".
Let me just say onething.. I could make a better movie than this!!!!!
Let's just say David Fincher's name on a movie is guaranted to make me watch it with a fair certaininty that it is going to rock which is an honour only shared by other handful directors..
But, I mean come on he is the man behind one of my all time favourite movie Fight Club.
Even with that in mind I never expected to be blown away by a movie like that, the sheer meticulousness of the plot, the amazing performance of both main actors involved was totally and utterly brilliant.
I enjoyed every moment of it and was filled with anticipation till the very end..
True, I felt like I needed a shower after watching it but hey if you do not have the stomach then do not watch a Fincher movie :DD
The movie was received well both critically and commercially. Gone Girl garnered four Golden Globe Award nominations, including Best Director for Fincher and Best Actress – Drama for Pike.
Watch it.. It will provide an absolute different angle on Marriage..
I was not impressed with the movie, I felt it was a one sided tale told ignoring so many variables. Running for 132 minutes which is a little over two hours, I felt that the movie lagged in some parts. I was somehow taken aback, shocked, and a bit heartbroken about the ending.
I was, on the other side impressed by the intense performance of Cooper who in my humble opinion keeps upping his performance one movie at a time.
I did feel that the movie missed the realistic feel of being at war, It portrayed a single point of view which advocated why America needed to go to war.
I also felt that it is heavily promoting violence from the very first lines of the movie even before it turned into a war movie.. I was not impressed by the story line and I feel there are many movies out there which portrayed a more honest and realistic view about how and why wars are being fought.
American Sniper was surrounded by Controversies since it's release..
The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee said that the release of the movie coincided with increased threats against Arabs and Muslims.
It and others have also accused Eastwood of dishonestly linking the September 11 attacks with Iraq.
Matt Taibbi (American author and journalist) criticized American Sniper for its portrayal of politics. Chris Hedges (American journalist and activist) criticized the film for lionizing the gun culture and promoting the blind adoration of the military.
Zaid Jilani (American blogger and campaigner for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC)) said in Salon, quoting Kyle's autobiography, argued that both the film and Kyle's reputation "are all built on a set of half-truths, myths and outright lies.
One simple word YUCK!!!
A total waste of time
I have to say that this movie left me with a heavy heart.. I truly felt for Alice and I have to say that the idea of having an illness that is not only eating away at your body but going after the most precious possession that anyone of us have which are our memories and knowing who and how our loved ones feel about us, seems plain out horrifying.
Moore delivered an extremely heartfelt performance and the way she would look lost, confused, or terrified made me feel like I want to reach inside the TV set and just hug her.
I really liked the movie and how it focused that some illnesses really infect an entire family..
The film had its world première at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2014.
Moore's performance has earned universal acclaim including wins for a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Drama, Critics' Choice Movie Award, a SAG Award, a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award, among other nominations.
I loved the air of mystery and thrill engulfing the show.. It plays on the angel that you never really know anyone and at the end of the day all of us are capable of doing horrific things if we thought that we might get away with it.
I could not stop watching the show once I started, The episodes have a common story line that continues through out the show in addition to the individal cases that Keating picks up on an episode by episode basis, making you literary unable to stop watching..
The movie is all about what is real in the world of Hollywood.. I was fascinated and somehow taken a back by the movie but somehow grown to appreciate it.. I loved it..
I felt weird watching the movie.. It kind of left me feeling a mixed feeling of Fucked up and sad for the two young ladies..
This is by far one of the worst movies I have ever watched.. Flaky and retarded comes to mind.. Seriously DO NOT BOTHER TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!
I loved the air of the entire show but the Stahul angle really for over played it was so not needed and felt just intrusive in s03
Starring Elyes Gabel (known as Lucs from Body of Proof), Katharine McPhee (known for being a runner up in American Idol’s fifth season) and Robert Patrick who is pretty famous. In spite the fact that I have never seen the remaining of the cast in pretty much anything, but I think the chemistry between them is a great success providing the show with an edge for humour and sarcasm begging you to ask the question..
"How Can smart people be so dumb?"
The show is quiet entertaining discussing the notion that even if you are the smartest fish in the pond you still need to connect with people around you and although that we are all islands we still need bridges that connect us all.
Also that variety of stories being presented prevents it from being boring! Which is as you all know is a big deal breaker in my book
I think you should check it.
In my humble opinion that movie benefited from the hype, the movie is okay and passable in my book, it did not even manage to make me crack a smile.. I believe that the publicity and the commotion surrounded that movie is what made it a hit on-line as everyone wanted to see what the fuss was all about..
Critical response
The Interview received mixed reviews from critics making it another time where the critics and I agree.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 51% approval rating, based on 84 reviews, with an average rating of 5.8/10. The site's consensus reads: "Unfortunately overshadowed by controversy (and under-screened as a result).
On Metacritic, the film has a score of 52 out of 100 based on 31 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
I was not impressed although the movie starred two of my favourite actors.. I got to say that it barely received a pass in my book..
Watch it if you are curious but do not expect to be WoWed..
Moving on..
I personally think that this plot is getting tired and they should give it a break, it has been overly abused recently through "The Hunger Games" and similar movies that have been hitting the big screen..
The movie in itself was nothing new and the plot did not offer any sort of impressive findings. One of the things that ticked me off was the ending that the whole purpose of was setting the expectations for the sequel.
However not to only focus on the negatives and to justify the semi-passable part instead of the deserved Fail for being a cliché are two things that I liked in the movie..
1- First of all is the location that was used in the movie which was indeed quiet impressive and deserves an award for creepiness.. That location was Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
2- Second of all, A young fresh face that really left an impression on me and I liked his performance far better than that of Dylan O'Brien who is playing Thomas the main character, that face was Ki Hong Lee the 28 year old Korean-American actor portraying Minho, the Keeper of the Runners. IMHO, this guy is going places.
I did not like it.. It was strange and did not offer an explanation to a lot of crucial questions that the movie presented..
Moving on..
It really sucks and not worth watching at all..
