X-Men '97 2024

Both a love letter and a proper continuation of the 90s show, made by people who obviously love the original cartoon, but also the X-Men characters and storylines. The intro theme is back, the characters are back, most of the original cast is back, the campy dialogue and storytelling format are back too. At the same time both the animation and the way themes of prejudice are presented have been updated in a way that feels more relatable to modern audiences.

It's clear that a lot of effort and heart were put into this, and despite hitting some heavily nostalgic notes, it definitely doesn't piggyback on nostalgia alone. Bringing back old, beloved shows and franchises is always risky, and it's not going to meet everyone's expectations, but if it has to happen then the best way to go about it is with care for the original material and understanding of what made it special to those who love it.

Very much looking forward to this.

It's a good series. It doesn't do anything special, but it maintains the quality of the original, and that's already much more than what the current Marvel offers.

This is peak television. Great characters, Excellent plot, World-class dialogues, Masterful action scenes and Brilliant BGM. I can only hope to get more of this. Everything about this screams perfections.

To me, My x-men.

"Remember It"

Simply, this exceeded my expectations, I was sure that Disney/marvel was going to bunk this up, surprisingly they did not. I recommend the first season!

I like how this season change my mind on Cyclops also, the live actions for some reason made him seem weak AF, this season reestablished Cyclops as a bad ass. I also like the many stories presented with cyclops and leadership and being a father.

Bastion ripping and then slapping the shit out Cable AND then absorbing his arm while giving that monologue was something else, disrespectful af.

Didn't expect this show to go as hard as it did. Not complaining though.

Believe the hype.
So many memorable lines and scenes. Great dialogue, iconic imagery, clear themes and, yet, writers managed not to make their world black & white.

Great show, I wouldn't recommend it to people who didn't watch the original '90s version or didn't read the comics as it would be a bit confusing. Also, don't look at this and say oh it's Disney it's okay for anyone to watch! This version of the cartoon is a lot darker and bloodier. All in all five out of five and why can't other Disney projects be this good.

If you're even the tiniest bit of uninterested, you have to watch this. The character designs, animation, stories, editing, and soundtrack were incredible. I've always been a huge fan of X-Men more than anything in Marvel, and this just intensifies it. Episode 5 was when I knew this was amazing. I can't wait for more of it. It took me a bit to get locked in, but once I was locked in, I was LOCKED in. I also liked how complex things got, whether it was generic or not. It widened the target audience. The complexity as well as the emotion, from despair and serenity to affairs and anxiety.

Do I have to watch the old x-men series before starting this, in order to understand it properly?
