Vikings: Season 5

5x16 The Buddha

Floki’s storyline is incredibly boring and he’s become way less fun than he was before. Maybe he just matured but I miss the old Floki.

THE BUDDHA
-65-

"And who is the Buddha?"
They have a thing with Gods or Godlike beings or not?^^
Let's see where this goes.

"I was thinking at last our settlement was beginning to work."
Huh. Never expected me to say that one day, but:
Was the Floki Story the best part in this one?
Not that the other Characters and Stories weren't good.
They were great, but for me this gets better and better.
Maybe we needed the Story from A to B to get to the great C.

"There is the boundery of your legal possesion."
After all those years, they finally made it and made Ragnars wish come true.
That's how you leave a legacy. He still looms over all.^^
Awesome.

"Bjorn Ironside, how happy I am to see you."
We are too. Bjorn against Ivar 2.0?
Who would say no? Gonna be great. :D

"What Kind of mother are you?"
The worst one in the world I guess.
This bitch is so fucked up. They're not good christians?
You killed your own fucking son!?
She has to pay for her sins.

Would love to see more of the Buddha's teachings seeping through in Vikings as it had with Christianity much like - but hopefully better than - the trip to Morocco in the previous season. Always found the evolutionary cross pollination of these wandering members from these cultures quite fascinating... or maybe its just cause this show does it so well.

I love Gunnhild.
When she "exercised" her freedom... that look on Bjorn's face was so beautiful, I'm still laughing at it, and it's probably been 30 seconds by now. So brilliantly precious.

Spoiler Alert: Floki isn't really in Iceland. They keep referring to winter being here, but then what is this strange, diffusely glowing ball in the sky? D:

Enter Judith, the Witch. Interesting plot-twist.

Hvistserk going Buddhist ? That is a strange plot. Well, he's been the most useless son until now, so he needs a gimmick.

Floki's community just got rid of Eyvind, which should have been done almost right after they settled. And the very next scene they're going to get him back ? Kjetill is being so nice again and again, he's the only one that really deserved to be with the gods in Floki's plan.

At last, Ragnar's dream is accomplished. Though they got no people left.

People keep allying themselves with Harald to get Kattegat, but that can't work, neither for him nor his ally. How many times has it been now ??

W T F Judith ! That's her own son and he was actually good and not conspiring, when had almost every reasons to be. That scene is so harsh.
