Veronica Mars is an exceptionally well-written show that’s compelling and fun. The series follows a young high school girl named Veronica Mars who works part-time at her father’s PI agency but does her own investigations on the side. Season 1 follows Veronica’s investigation into the murder of her best friend Lilly Kane, and the cover-up that destroyed her family and turned them into pariahs. While this main over-arcing story is always in the background, each episode has its own intriguing case. Additionally, the cast is especially strong; particularly Kristen Bell, who gives an excellent performance and brings a lot of charisma to the series. The show also makes good use of its guest stars, and Season 1 features appearances by Paris Hilton, Alyson Hannigan, Adam Scott, and Joey Lauren Adams. A sassy film noir detective series, Veronica Mars: Season 1 is full of engaging mysteries and intense drama.

Good private detective show with decent plots and dialogue. A little girly, teenagery and cheesy but the good mystery aspect saves it. Each episode has a stand alone private investigation or two and there are several deeper mysteries that span several episodes or the entire season. Soundtrack is mostly sucky but fortunately there's not a lot of it. Easy watching yet has some pretty emotional moments.
