Thought provoking, great pacing, :heartbeat: Toni Collette & Merritt Wever's chemistry together - MORE please!!
Toni Collette AND Merritt Wever!! Two talented actresses, this should be a great show.
1 word...powerful. Very, very powerful. I don't want to come by as someone who doesn't empathise. I really do. A lot of thought went into this one. This is one beautifully-scripted series which is powerful at both being a crime procedural and at trying to describe the tremendous pain these victims have to endure, pain they have to relive multiple times, and you begin to wonder - How come the law works like this? Does it need to change? I vote for change. Every actor is at the top of their game, but Kaitlyn Dever deserves a special mention, for portraying the distraught girl, the girl in pain, the girl confused at the troubles people throw at her everyday, the girl whose innocence just shines through. And she is just perfect. Kudos to the people responsible for casting. Spot-on, people.
Bravo! This mini-series hit right at the heart of the insidiousness of sexual assault and rape; what it means to be assaulted and what it means to be (dis)believed, and what it means to seek justice. It's incredibly sad and unfortunate that this is such a worldwide epidemic, where victims of sexual assault are regularly dismissed, shamed, or even blamed for being a victim. This mini-series got into the details behind all of this by telling a compelling story of what it was like to be in these various positions.
The casting for this series was especially strong, and the performances were marvelous. Toni Collette and Merritt Wever were tremendous as the investigative detectives, and their chemistry together was fantastic. Kaitlyn Dever, as a teenage rape victim, was believable and sympathetic. Her portrayal of someone who'd been assaulted was detailed and nuanced, and she did justice to the many survivors of sexual assault. Danielle Macdonald was also terrific as another rape victim.
I have to say that as well done as Watchmen was, it wasn't as strong or nearly as important as this mini-series. I felt that this should have won both the Emmy and the Golden Globe for Best Limited Run Series, Best Writing, and Best Casting. This was truly a remarkable achievement; not something that comes along every day.
A rare crime show more interested in the story of its victims than it's the villain. Introduces a much-needed empathetic approach to a genre that has become too obsessed with intellectual counterplay up to the point of being utterly insensitive to its characters. Great acting by all the leads and good chemistry between the detective duo. Enjoyed every minute of it.
awesome show,
binge watched it this weekend, which is very rare.
Every actor did their job perfectly,
The technical department did a great job.
I liked it a lot.
Thought-Provoking, Heart Wrenching, and Overall great acting. A Story more need to see.
I honestly have no words. The entire series is perfect, but the final episode was 10/10.
Just unbelievably emotionally amazing loved it
You will find yourself feeling emotional in this series making you cry at times as it is based on a true story. We have Marie who is played by Katlyn Dever she is amazing so talented really portrayed this character well bringing her story to life, which her character in the early hours of the morning someone breaks into her apartment through the sliding door. Where Marie is continually raped repeatedly by this guy while blindfolded and tied up with her own shoe laces. She calls the police after calling a friend and a neighbour to which they all do not believe her and treat her like a criminal to drag her through the mud as the crime scene is completely clean. The police think she made it up for attention based on her past of abuse through the foster program as well. There are many other victims that go unnamed throughout the years, then three years later after Marie’s rape of the same attacker two detectives from different towns Detective Grace Rasmussen played by Toni Collette and Detective Karen Duvall played by Merritt Wever starts picking up the pieces to connect these rapes to hopefully eventually find the rapist . Anyway, Marie suffered the most not just the rape that is a massive scar on her life for the rest of her life just like the other rape victims, but Marie has also suffered at the hands of the cops through disbelief by being treated as a lying suspect by the police, which it just an injustice in itself where it just shows you should never judge a book by its cover. Anyway, ten out of ten series loved it brings a tear to my eye and it just shows if it was not for those two amazing female detectives these women would never have closure especially Marie’s life would have been completely ruined by the justice system failing her countless times through disbelief of her credibility in the rape allegation. I definitely recommend a watch if you have spare time as it really makes me think so much not to judge too quickly like the cops did with Marie, as you could miss some critical evidence leaving the person even more scared than they was the first time coming out of the violent crime against them.
Unbelievable is a good show that tackles the topic of sexual assault. The series follows a sensitive and realistic storyline that keeps you engaged from the start. The actors give an incredible performance, making the characters relatable and authentic.
The show successfully brought every character to life and made viewers relate to them. The acting was superb (Toni Collette was AMAZING), and the plot is not confusing as some true crime tales usually are. The twists and turns make one think about how some people are evil. Indeed an unbelievable story.
Based on a Pulitzer award winning article about a young woman's experience of the justice system after a brutal sexual assault and the subsequent investigation of the same serial rapist. This series is not slick but in many ways has the look of a low budget production but the three principal characters are brilliantly performed (Kaitlyn Dever, Merrit Wever and Toni Collette, all three, are up for Golden Globes for their work in this). In the first episode, the details of what happened after the 911 call are so carefully crafted to be an accurate portrayal of the trauma of young Marie that it is almost unbearable to watch. However, the series is so well written and is such an important story to tell that I highly recommend you see it. I give this limited series a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Crime Drama]
This show is a must watch.
It's absolutely perfect and makes you think about the current state of things about how rape victims are being treated. It makes you think about the stigmas we have around trauma, the reactions it should induce but also the functioning of social systems. Are we on auto-pilot or are we really trying to connect and understand the people we say we want to help ?
Nothing more to say than absolutely awesome.
Well i must say Unbelievable is a must match 10/10
Really great show. It’s heartbreaking story from the victims standpoint that not many shows choose to be told. It’s painful to watch but that’s the true feeling of sexual assault victims have to live through. The last episode is so powerful and emotional. I can totally understand why Marie chose to lie when the police, who supposed to protect the victim, cornered and pushed her through hard experience repeatedly.
Uauuu!!! The name is perfect!! I couldn't wait to watched each episode for day, I watched in 2 nights. I felt nervious with each episode thinking in Marie and the unfair of the situation, but allowed me to analyze about how I sometime I how could prejudge a behavior and don't listen to a person. This was most importan for me. The acting of main actresses was perfect. Don't missed.
Most elite TV series for everyone who want to know more about one of the most important problem any girl can face.
Finished the whole show in one sitting. Rage inducing, Hearbreaking, Inspiring. Centers the victims instead of the anticlimactic unsub. Merrit Wever's voice and face is so kind, it makes me cry, especially after going through the horror of the male detectives in Episode 1.
the cast drew me in, the story kept me 'til the end.
This was hard to watch because you know that's how it happens. So that's why you've got to make yourself watch it. To see and understand how Marie's story is just too common.
As far as the quality of the show itself, it's brilliantly acted, led by three incredible actresses, and the overall editing choices, as far as camera and sound work go, are spotless. However, the pacing might be off at times and things take a while to start coming together. I honestly think this could have been trimmed to seven episodes without losing its overall incredible quality.
Unbelievable is an incredible show that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It follows the story of Marie, a young woman who is accused of lying about a r*pe she reported. The show follows the investigation of her case, and the lives of the detectives who are trying to uncover the truth. The performances are outstanding, and the writing is sharp and thought-provoking. The show is a gripping and powerful exploration of the criminal justice system, and the way it can fail victims of sexual assault. Unbelievable is an unforgettable show that will stay with you long after you've finished watching. Highly recommended!
I really liked this show, acting and how things went
to degree that i finished the whole series in one sit
yes my eyes hurting now xD but it's deserved
well written one and thank god there kinda happy ending after all
most of the cast did great Job and also didn't feel that there is a lot of gaps,so yah
i do liked
Sad series but i really hope safety For all people bc things like this is really happening, so take care all of you
Great tv show really unbelievable i still don't believe it how all these things happened...Great perfomances too they leveled up the show this deserve more attention. 8.5/10
Phenomenal acting from all, particularly Merritt Wever. Just wow!
Amazing stuff. Great writing, great acting, it works really well both as a drama about victims and a detective story. I loved it. Plus, Loretta McCready is in my heart.
As masterpiece of crime investigation and drama. Every episode makes sense to build a story that leaves you sad, anxious, happy and complete. A true tale of right and wrong and, most of all, pursuing the right. Based on a true story makes you want to go there and hug the people behind it (while in reality they will not look like the actors). What a limited series should always look like
Can someone please fix the runtime? My OCD is kicking in.
Life is not a fairy tale and we will experience it more than once, but sometimes some people care more about eliminating evil.
Such a powerful show. I had so much sympathy for Marie and the other victims. I definitely recommend watching this and paying close attention. It's a heart wrenching series. 9/10
Apart from a few typical Hollywood amplifications, it is a surprisingly powerful series, very thoughtfully done, detailed in terms of criminal procedure and psychilogy, and because of that it felt very real and emotional.
Didn't expect it to be so good. Don't miss it. A 2019 Must Watch.
Great show! I just don't understand why Marie lied! I found her portion of the show to be very annoying! If she hadn't lied at the beginning, all of those women would not have been raped!
DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Waited for this show because of content and actresses. I loved it. Both actresses are superb and together, they make a great show.
I'll call it must watch.Important subject but drags a lot.If you have patience, you'll experience a lot of emotions. The series is so beautiful. But if you look deep, you can find blood and tears splattered all over.
damn good show, nothing more to say, bravo! bravo!

Definitely Emmy and/or Golden Globes material, for the story, the perfect acting and even for the discreet but good musical score.
