[7.7/10] A very enjoyable lark! The episode nicely set up Spidey & co. learning and shrugging off various lessons from Hawkeye and then putting them into the practice in the field while sneaking out for the titular burrito run. I also enjoyed Mesmero’s scheme here, as using his mind control powers through the cellular network is a creative use of the characters. Having a trio of heroes fight a bunch of low-level, mind controlled baddies made for some good set pieces, as did the Night of the Living Dead-esque horde of mentally-overriden New Yorkers.
I mostly just enjoyed the lighter take on things in this one. Squirrel Girl was a particular treat here, between her reassurances to her squirrels that she believed in their innocence, to her Keaton-esque “You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts” line. She’s definitely a weird but enjoyable addition to the series. At the same time, Spidey’s quips and references were on point, and Luke Cage’s reluctance to web-sling was very amusing. Plus, Nick Fury knowing what’s up, and taking a burrito is a nice grace note.
Overall, lots of light-hearted fun in this one, which made it a winner.
