Twisted Metal 2023

Ok, maybe it was my low expectations or this was really awesome and entretaning.

Loved it so far, watching the rest of the episodes. The cast is great, loved the Sweet Tooth character and can't wait to see more of hi(only at EP.3 while writing this).

I think this is one of those you hate it or love it. But if you're into comedy with some gore action give this a chance.

Well, that was actually not as bad as I thought. The 30 minute runtime definetly helped and I'm actually for a second season (if there'll be one)

Im not a big fan of Anthony Mackie.
Too many annoying one-liners where he seems to want to sound like Will Smith.
The opening scenes are a bit too much Mad Max meets Death Race. But ok. That seems the whole goal of this series.

Also a shame that immediately the whole racism card needs to come up again with 'John Doe' saying "talking to a mildly intimidating white lady" why the skin color is important?

Anyway. If you dont take this stuff seriously, then its entertaining enough. Set your expectations low and you might even be surprised.

Unexpectedly fun and entertaining, I really didn't have any expectations but I loved the game from playing it on Playstation back in the mid 90s.

A lot of action with the right touch of comedy, and a great role for Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). And Sweet Tooth in this show is just pure genius.

Just watch it and enjoy the ride, watched the whole 10 episodes in one shot and I can't wait for Season 2.

Walking dead meets Fast & Furious with a dash of comedy. Loving Anthony Mackie in this role and Sweet Tooth is a ball of fun.

If you remember the PS2 Game this show is for you.

Why do writers so often insist on creating unlikeable douchebag main characters? I am literally just hoping for "Quiet" to die.

While i also had low expectations (having seen the trailer and dreading seeing this iteration of Sweet Tooth), I was actually very pleasantly surprised! There were some pretty funny jokes, and better yet, Sweet Tooth stole the fucking show. The voice is múy perfecto, and the on-screen guy was marvellous.

While I won't get into details about any spoilers, I will say that it would've benefited greatly from more car action, and more practical effects (should you watch the show, you'll understand), as mid-way I felt like I should've switched to Mad Max or another film instead....

But still! Surprisingly good show, decent enough characters to keep the ball rolling, but most importantly;

got milk?

7/10, better as a background or brain-turned-off watch

All the music are before 2003 so this is going to be good.

Good old PSX days. It's probably going to suck though.

OK so i watched it, despite Anthony Mackie, because I wanted something light and fun, but I didn't have anymore expectation than a Fast & Furious in a Mad Max setting... Oh boy was I wrong!
What I got was Bounty Killers mixed with Blood Drive! (if you don't know that movie and series and you like Twisted Metal, run watch them!)

And that is good enough to be noted, this is the very first role were i found Anthony Mackie not to be a very bad actor (Marvel, Pain & Gain) or totally forgettable (Altered Carbon, Black Mirror).
Also, good surprise to see Stephanie Beatriz there, I didn't expect to see her there, but I couldn't think of anyone else to play her role.

PS: I knew I recognized Sweet Tooth's voice, but I could figure which actor had that voice and physics, makes more sens now.

I was expecting this to be another hollywood woke failure that hated the gaming community and preached "THE MESSAGE". It was actually not bad! I enjoyed many moments. Sweet tooth was awesome and the action was kinda badass.

10/10 ninja

The 30 minute play time really suited this show, keeps you wanting the next episode as soon as possible.
This is brilliant laugh at yourself stuff and totally entertaining, more please as soon as you can……

With a sense of humor that is as silly as it is effective, the show keeps the pace providing a post-apocalyptic environment that has echoes of "Zombieland" (2009), one of the successes of the creators of this adaptation. The macabre sense of humor and the cartoonish violence that the clown Sweet Tooth brings stands out, in a story that works without introducing too many new elements, but with enough skill to be entertaining. There are many elements of the character from "Deadpool" (2016) in the protagonist, but Anthony MacKie gives him enough personality so as not to seem like a copy.

for what it was it was fun, one of these rare moments when you have an almost perfect script, but just the wrong cast,.. i still had fun with it....if they decide to do a s2 hope we get a recast

While it seems Sony said, "Lets ride on the success of The Last of Us with our own video game IP adaptation", but ended up with this. Its 90s nostalgic out the wazoo, feels like the humour of a 16 year old boy, but then injects solid storytelling and gore to provide an overall quite enjoyable experience. Anthony Mackie's humour reminds me of Chris Pine from Dungeons and Dragons, but more gruff.

I think it's just an average show didn't like most of the actors acting except the sweet tooth.. That was a hell of a character

Finally got around to watching this. 6 episodes in and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a fast and fun watch so far #twistedmetal #sanzinstreams #comedy

loading replies

Overall I enjoyed it. If you find episode 1 feels like a Deadpool knockoff that’s trying too hard, the show definitely improves after that.

Never played the game but was aware of its existence at the time. Can’t say whether it’s “lore accurate” or whether anybody really cares about that.

loves this show. can't wait for season 2. looks promising.

I think this show, while not the most incredible show you will ever see or anything. I think it will have the widest gap of expectations to the quality of show delivered for 2023.

The show is surprisingly good and surprisingly funny but not every joke will land for everyone. Anthony Mackie, unlike Altered Carbon and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, actually feels like he's having fun with the role that is often self-depreciating and most importantly everyone seems to know what type of show they are making. Season One does a lot of the world-building required, in order to have the show everyone expected in Season Two (if it gets it). Some fun action sequences, albeit not as many as people might expect, a lot of gore and ultra over the top violence that works because everyone knows what type of show they are making.

So yeah, ultimately probably not going to make my top 5/10 of the year for 2023 shows, but it did exceed my very very low expectations when I heard they were making this show.

Wasn't really excited about it considering I didn't think they could make a show out of a game like this. Honestly though, it's good. It reminds me of Z Nation. It doesn't take itself to serious but still has some gore/action scenes that aren't meant to be funny. I'm not saying this is the pinnacle of game adaptations but it does feel like the kind of thing you'd get from a PS1 game. Worth a watch from anyone but especially if you grew up playing the cheesy/corny games that we all loved even if they weren't thought provoking.

If you expect a tv show focused around car combat look elswhere. This one is filled with rushed backstories, unlikable characters, and an absolute degenerate drvthru. Cheesy Talmud inspired cliches throughout the story. My favourite being if a male and female character spend more than 1 episode together they MUST have sex.

loading replies

I'm only vaguely familiar with the game, but decided to give this a try just out of curiosity to see how they would go about adapting this. The first episode was very promising, I thought there was a great balance of action and story - really loved the first scene - but after watching the next two episodes, I don't think I will be sticking with it.

It's not the worst game adaptation, they managed to make something that at least has enough story and the characters have their moments (loved Sweet Tooth's voice), but the type of comedy the show is going for is just not for me. It's way too flat, in situations that ultimately aren't very interesting (all the interaction with Sweet Tooth in episode 2 felt like a waste of time, same as the torture in episode 3). It just feels like they're going to run into obstacle after obstacle that will amount to nothing in the end.

If you want a bit of mindless fun and don't mind silly comedy, you may enjoy it. Otherwise, there's nothing super interesting or unique about this.

Dear Writers of this show, please remain on strike forever. Seriously, find another job, please don't write ever again.

loading replies

Not sure if this was my really low expectations, even after enjoying the trailer, but wow this was a great show. Doesn't take itself seriously at all and has some great moments both sad and hilariously funny. Has some really thought out references for any old fans of the game and here's hoping it gets renewed for a season 2!

Wasn't sure what to expect, been a fan of the original Twisted Metal games on PS1 to PS3, surprisingly I really enjoyed. I say surprisingly because game to screen adaptions don't always go well, that and how can you make a series out of cars just blowing up one another, happily it manages to do just that.

Always kept me wanting to watch the next episode. It does contain bloody/stylized gore to a certain extent just as a head s up.
Also Neve Campbell much love, although I miss her in the new scream movies glad to see she can turn to other roles.

I think there is enough to enjoy for fans of the series and non fans, honestly they did a good job of weaving a story together and keep the carnage coherent. I really liked Sweet Tooth, they did a really good job with him, I also loved Quiet which bonded well with johns character.

Plenty of blood/gore/car shooting mayhem (although they could have added a bit more)

An unexpected treat in an out of control Twisted Metal world.

Grab a slice of pizza and your favorite beverage kind of show.

Twisted Metal 2023 is like a video game on steroids, but with real-life car crashes and explosions. It's like playing Mario Kart, but with a twisted sense of humor and a lot more chaos. The show is a wild ride from start to finish, with over-the-top characters and insane stunts that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The host, Sweet Tooth, is like the Joker of the car world, always ready to crack a joke and blow something up. The graphics are top-notch, making every crash and explosion look like a work of art. The gameplay is fast-paced and addictive, with each episode feeling like a new level to conquer. The only downside is that sometimes the show can be a bit too over-the-top, with the stunts feeling more like a circus act than a car battle. But hey, that's part of the charm, right? Overall, Twisted Metal 2023 is a wild and wacky ride that will satisfy any adrenaline junkie and leave you wanting more.

It's ok but that Quiet is such a terrible actress, ruins the show...

got some funny parts and driving

Like everything else nowadays, it started great and fell flat on it's ass. Protagonist , clown and atmosphere all there! The romance is horrifically forced. Tjose 2 have 0 chemistry. That latina is not sassy is just insufferable. I'd cut all of her fingers just to shut her up:joy:. And also F*ck back stories! Nobody cares how they end up there. That's a very well known method of "I don't know what to write, let's write a back story" . Basically watch the episodes where sweetooth is in the rest is crap. 5/10 cuz NOSTALGIA

Show and season 1 rated a 7

Like others, had low expectations.

Little Easter eggs from the game I definitely enjoyed. I didn’t get it at first, but they’re just building up the show. It hasn’t even got started yet, which is my favorite thing.

Season 2 should be INSANE.

I loved it, sweet tooth is the best and Deff hope it gets a season 2 cause that will Deff be crazy as hell

Not exactly spoilers, as you see in almost the first scene the main antihero driving a Subaru WRX on low-profile street tires thru hails of 50 cal and rocket launchers in a twenty-year post-apocalyptic car chase where every man is for himself.

Now while I'm not a huge fan of massive American metal muscle cars, big older chunks of metal are much more likely to survive than horizontally opposed boxer engines with all-wheel-drive in the absence of regular maintenance.

Or if you have to have something more technical survive and endure, it'd be a Hilux, as we know they are almost indestructible!

There are way more plot holes, but these hit me straight away.
