Can't wait for the original guy's new show on prime "The Grand Tour"
To put it mildly, this was painful. Maybe there is some hope, but the biggest mistake they made was to try and continue in the same way as the Clarkson years were.
Fail. Matt LeBlanc was the only real highlight.
It was kinda boring. Just wanted to watch anything else than this new Top Gear, but managed to struggle through the whole episode. Won't watch again, I'll just wait The Grand Tour to begin air instead.
It's just not the same without the 3. I tried watching it but just didn't feel right. I guess that's it for top gear for me.
Fell asleep roughly half way through :(
Watching it right now and it's even more terrible than I thought it would be. Furthermore they didn't even bother to change anything about the show. They just have new guys and pretend nothing has happened. As if Jezza, Hammonds and May never even existed. That's weak. I'm gonna be watching because of the cars but the new guys are about as interesting as a frozen fart.
The cinematography and editing was great! Really loved those sick shots and transitions.
Didn't like the presenters though. :(
Please remove the image of the former hosts. It's a disrespect for them to be place here now.
Its probably because I'm biased, but I found myself more annoyed than anything. Cinematography and editing are still great though.
^ The picture of the ginger tw*t is rather disturbing
It won't be "Top Gear" but the new presenters have piqued my interest. Chris Evans is a SERIOUS car nut and owns some of the worlds rarest Ferraris. Sabine Schmitz needs no introduction, after 30+ years with over 30K laps driven around the Nordschleife she knows the track better than anyone alive and she's the undisputed "Queen of the Ring". Eddie Jordan launched Michael Schumacher's F1 career and his team has featured drivers like Damon Hill, Rubens Barichello, Jean Alesi and Eddie Irvine.
Most of the "rebooted" version's new cast have credentials and experience earning them the label "Legends". I'm looking forward to the new season and "Top Gear Classic" just switched network and changed it's name so it'll still be around. :D
I think the only way I got through this was with the appearance of the guest stars and Matt LeBlanc as the new presenter.
Far from good, but good from far...
gotta say that i had to quit watching the first episode half way. Wasn't funny at all and it just looks too staged. No chemistry between the hosts. I will no longer watch this show and im going to wait for the former hosts' TV show on Amazon coming later this year!
S23E01 - Horrible, terrible, boring. These words fail to describe how bad the new show is.
Chris, as far as I can tell, has no opinion on cars. He simply reads the brochures at you. He wants to be Clarkson, and he's clearly not.
Matt appears to be under heavy sedation until they put him behind something exciting and he perks up a bit.
The other cast are hardly on screen and what I saw only Sebine gave a passing comment on what she thought of one car.
Which is faster, the Corvette or the Viper? Who knows, they failed to get the Stig to run them around the track, instead they do something fantastically stupid in a cat & mouse game instead of a review you might expect.
Really fantastic vehicles, but absolute rubbish new set of hosts who are way too obsessed with themselves instead of the cars they're supposed to present. The only way I could possibly find myself enjoying the new and "improved" (my butt) version of Top Gear, is if I could turn off all the cringe worthy dialog. I think Mr Evans has a negative influence on the rest of the team, which usually aren't so annoying on their own. I'm pretty sure they've ruined it.
My head hurts after watching this.
How can someone be so irritating? And how can someone so irritating be in every part of the show? There wasn't more than 1 minute without him popping up. Sack evans and with the other you probably can have a good show
Le Blanc saved it for me. Evans was terrible, and tried too hard.
Let me start with I am an American, living in USA, and this episode had way too much American in it. Matt LeBlanc sucked on friends and has sucked in everything since, and has NO business hosting a BBC version of Top Gear, stick him in that other turd Top Gear America. The red head wasn't completely terrible, what have you done to the track??? A Corvette and a Viper, what an abomination.
They need to tone down the Clown act, Sense of humor is fine but this is just silly
Rated "B" for Bloody Awful. Narrative with Evanses higher pitch voice sounds gay and what was going on between Evans and LeBlanc in that race made me worried it will end up in a guy love scene. It supposed to be "Ginger vs Joey" not buddies Chris and Matt. Even though LeBlanc was true highlight of the episode, he was somewhat passive and kept back (again, voice?). It was terrible caricature of Top Gear, they had a chance to build they own show, with TG bits here and there (SIRPC, Stig...) but failed to create different "personality". I'm not surprised, TG was a brainchild of now Amazon's Clarkson and Wilman.
Very scripted, unnatural, predictable... Too bad. Hope it gets better with time... :(
Matt LeBlanc probably the best presenter, Evans partially emulating Clarkson and trying too hard. Didn't even get a laugh out of this, and I'm pretty disappointed in the BBC. Camera work and editing are still top notch though.
Not going to watch the rest of the series, I hope the ratings fall off a cliff.
Just gonna look forward to The Grand Tour with the proper Top Gear cast now..
this show is still advertised as coming soon on bbc two.
Not been broadcast yet. BBC have said May buy not specific date as yet.
Surprised to see the season scheduled for 16 episodes - always ran between 6 and 10 under the old crew.
Date is incorrect. Starts May 22nd
Im pretty excited about it, big fan of Sabine and Chris Hariss! Matt Le B'lanc just makes it even better.

It won't ever be the same without James, Jeremey and Hammond
