This show started off slow and I wasn't sure I was going to like it but in the end I was truly invested. This isn't the most original idea out there by any stretch but the characters were deviled well and there was definitely some brilliant casting choices made here. This was solid.
I actually liked it 6-7/10, but only because of specific characters, oren, shane, bette and caleb, they're the only ones that kept me interested.
specifically oren, I found his character way more developed than the others, however I still wish the writers cared more about him, his problems with himself and his self image and his eatings , it's adds so much to him, and his thing with shane, im quite sad they didn't end up together and that he ended up with neveah???? to me I thought at the beginning that the route they were going to go through is one where he explores himself and his sexuality, and deals with his conflicts, but neveah?? , and people actually like them together??? where was the development to their story? one second it was all about him and bette and shane, and now he's in love with neveah????
on another note, the ending, when they performed ripper, while exposing the principal, that was so well done, and the dance is so well done, and the casting is so good (for the most part)
the plot of Cassie and her death and nabil was fine, good, the one with the club thing was also fine, but they could've done so much better there, it was just annoying to watch for the most part, this whole thing was just eh to me, the idea didn't suck though, just the execution, it was just bad.
the cop's story was annoying.
Shane's character, just like oren's, was so good, 10/10 for him, hes so lovable and his story is great!
Caleb's story was also great, him sleeping with the principle, and his prejudice and ignorance towards nabil, good development/
sadly there's no season two, I would've watched it if there was.
Meh, didn’t really affect me or my life that much. Maybe idc cos I don’t dance so yeah. Idc
This took 2 days to finish binge-watching.
The story concept barely kept me going through the unlikeable characters (except Shane and Selena).and rushed story direction.
Many of the story directions had a similar tone to Riverdale and 13 reasons why made into a dance setting.
The dance and soundtrack were the best parts of the series.
The last episode hints at a season 2, but not sure if it'll keep me interested.
Pretty bad, but has enough okay points to stop it being terrible. Well shot, decently acted in parts, they probably should have focused more on getting actors to play main roles, but at least with dancers it's more authentic and like many shows of its kind there's too many stories going on and the main story barely gets mentioned or solved in the end before another comes along. Some good character development. They squander the hour they have on this show with a lot of sex and not enough character and story progression.
I think if you like ballet then it has some good dancing, but the story isn't what it should be, it's just a drama and barely covers the crime at the centre. An okay journey, with some good acting (one of the better actors probably won't be in season 2, if they surprisingly get one) but probably would say avoid it.
6.3/10
Overall I really enjoyed this series. As with most dance related movies where the casts primary talent is dance, I found the acting a little dubious but you do get past it. It’s kind of like Riverdale for ballet but it keeps you guessing throughout and the physicality and ability of the cast is inspiring. I do think the chemistry between the cast could have been better as one episode they’d have a heartfelt conversation and the next, they’d hate each other. I found hard to believe if someone had empathy one day, they’d be devoid of it the next. However, accept it for what it is devious, steamy and quite delicious! Here’s hoping for season 2 Netflix!
SEASON 1 SPOILERS
It’s not terrible but it has a few noticeable flaws, starting with the acting! But I guess I understand it cause I think most of the actors or at least the younger ones are dancers so I prefer having real dancers as the actors, but still they need better dialogue and a more consistent identity, cause more than the acting being bad it was random, like one second all the characters were okay chilling and then the next one one of them out of nowhere was like I’M GONNA DESTROY YOU AND SHOVE MY BALLET POINTY SHOE UP YOUR ASS so there were these random outbursts of chaotic energy and overall very cringey; also it was very exhausting that all the time the students were crying wolf and that the police officer went along with their theories instead of she coming up with her own! Every 5 minutes there was a new suspect and everyone knew about it and was like YOU ARE GONNA ROT IN JAIL AND I’M GONNA BREAK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR TOES and then was like ooops sorry bestie xoxo.
Now to the one thing I really couldn’t stand was the sexualizing of teens! Even tho I think the actors are over 20 yo they are playing 16 yo teens and of course teens have sex and like when Bette and Oren are together or two other students that’s okay but when you have a 16 yo teen having a sexual relationship with their 40 yo teacher is like NOPE or you have the headmaster pimping out the teen girlies and then she gets away with it??? So if the writers/showrunners wanted sex murder mess they could’ve set this in a ballet company or idk if ballerinas go to college??
And the most disappoint part was that Neveah wasn’t the lead, like good for her that she is front and center in the promo but Bette ends up being the lead, and I hate it cause her character was awful, I’m all for a mean evil girlie but she wasn’t that, she was just abusive to June and then threw tantrums to get her away and the world just bowed to her! I want an evil girlie that actually works her way to cause trouble, Cassie looks like a mean girl with potential!
Something I really like was the boys character development, I think these are some of the most complex and well crafted male characters I’ve seen in a show! Shane and Oren are a good example, like I think this is the first time I see in a show a man with an ed.
I actually would watch the second season, especially after the new mystery, however the episodes don’t have a reason of being over 45 minutes long!

Shane looks like a mix between Charlie Gillespie and Kiernan Shipka. I love everything about him!
