So many people point out the obvious joke about T2 and the T-1000, but this episode is otherwise way more of a nod to Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

This was a fairly interesting premise. The X-Files have a lot of episodes based on interesting premises. Unfortunately, they often don't execute the premise well, follow-up on what's presented or focus on the interesting elements.
Aside: Duchovny is NOT a season regular.
About a guy who is turning into living metal and goes on a killing spree. Living metal...like Robert Patrick in "Terminator 2"? Ha Ha, I see what they did there.
