I don't have much to say. Not a fan of this episode. I'm done with the mythology stuff. I was probably done in the last season finale, but this season cemented it. I'm just done.
The reasoning for Mulder being abducted is nonsense. The other abductees seemed fine when they were being abducted again in the end, like the eye stinging thing didn't happen earlier. Guess the alien bounty hunter is just capturing them now i guess and doesn't harm them but kills non-abductees, but Mulder isn't an abductee. I don't care. It's all nonsense. Alien bounty hunter bad character doing out of character things. Wait why are the abductees all in a group standing around in that spot waiting to be abducted.
Smoking man puts faith in Krychek only to do the job, even though he's sold out secrets before. Smoking man puts his trust in one untrustworthy man to do the whole job of finding this ship, instead of sending teams of people or the military to cordon off the area or whatever. If this was season 1 quality writing that's what would have happened. Didn't care at all for the death of smoking man by Krychek.
Ugh.
I'm tired, and i'm done with any mythology stuff.
I'm glad Skinner saw concrete proof of the alien ufo though.
And Scully not being infertile anymore is nice, even though there's no explanation for how it happened. And what a final line to end on, "I'm pregnant"
Edit: And what happened to that psychic kid and the alien from seasons ago? I can't remember if something happened with them or they dropped it.
Certainly keeps the story arc alive. Mulder and Scully both have surprises in store for the viewer. Nice to see Krycek back again and Skinner cries unconvincingly.
Secondary characters in this episode: Billy Miles, Krycek, Lone Gunmen, Marita Covarrubius, CSM
Oh yeah, another awesome season finale, as usual. By this point The X-Files is composed of a rich set of characters and mithology; and everyone goes "all in" in this episode!
In my opinion, the series started looking inwards this last season, still managing to keep all the tension and interest despite the repetition of classic themes and plots, but also acknowledging this while getting more creative, playing with references, digging deeper into the characters and eventually going for a very good melodramatic ending :)
The X-Files is unarguably a classic, age-defining show, which was still going strong during its 7th season, on the year 2000.

Whoa, they go back to the first case and more surprising things happen. Now we're getting back to the serious stuff!
