I was very skeptical about the whole X-Files meets Freaky Friday idea, but the episode is a real pleasure to watch.
haha pretty hilarious episode how Mulder and Morris handled their new "life style", I'm curious to find out the outcome in the part 2 of Dreamland.
It's a good thing our stalwart protagonists are always coming down with selective amnesia. If that weren't the case, more than half the show wouldn't exist. Oi vey.
Sometimes Scully is so exhausting. As much fun as this episode was, it always frustrates me that she never believes in Mulder sometimes because of the scientific BS guidelines she chooses to follow.
michael mckean plays skeevy so well. :confounded:
WTF is it with the angry chief. Really drags all scenes he's in down.
Really fun to watch. Scully is great here and here confusion dealing with Michael McKean's character who has taken over Mulder's body is funny. It is also pretty touching as McKean's character and Mulder have to deal with each other's lives while they're minds have switched bodies.

Ahw cmoooon. This is so great but so unnecessarily scripted. Yes, Scully is always sceptical but Mulder NEVER calls her Dana. He never smokes. He doesn‘t bang the secretary and ffs he loves his X-Files. Why the actual f*ck does she not believe Mulder/Morris‘ body although she should know it better after 5 years. Still a 10 because the idea is great and it is executed superfunny but it is actually tooooo heavily forced into Mulder getting busted. Looking forward to part 2!
Hilarious episode that finds an effective mix between absurdity and sincerity. I think the whole thing works because it is really a study of Mulder and how empty his life and his life's pursuit can be. In a similar way to many of the Darin Morgan episodes, it is almost a deconstruction of The X-Files, while feeling more inherently an X-Files episode than some of Darin Morgan's episodes (War of the Coprophages and Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'). The humour works for me because it is Mulder suddenly having to adapt to a new way of life, something he could not be less prepared for. There's a sincerity too, especially in the scene where he tries to give his 'wife' words of comfort aware that her marriage to the real Morris Fletcher is one that has deteriorated and that sincerity highlights some of Mulder's better qualities as a more caring person. And of course, in a typical comedic X-Files way, that sincerity is immediately undercut by one of the biggest laughs.
And Michael McKean might just be my second favourite guest star on the show after Peter Boyle. Absolutely hilarious, embraces the absurdity at face value.
"Dreamland" might just be the funniest comedic episode for me personally so far.
The one concern and criticism (potentially, maybe Dreamland II clarifies this) is Scully's characterization and her not paying any heed to real-Mulder's words. It isn't so much a case of Scully's scepticism here as it is about her being rather unintelligible.

I think they must have had a lot of fun filming this one, a very entertaining episode.
