Mulder is soooo in love lol
It's very funny to see the shoe on the other foot, with Scully the 'expert' and Mulder offering less than his usual help.
I can’t believe that this episode is written by Stephen King :x Giving 6 just because I liked the catchy dialogues between Mulder and Scully. ;)
You can tell from the very first frame that this is StephenKing-ish (seriously, pause the episode at the beginning as soon as it fades in) - the fact that this is actually written by Stephen King makes it even better. The bits with Mulder are really funny and it is nice seeing the role reversal.
haha, there's a Chucky reference in this one.. Chinga? Chucky Chinga?
It's interesting the different reactions we can have to an episode, how subjective a viewing experience can be.
Some people have voiced their dislike of the episode, yet i kinda like it, and i found the episode very creepy. The combination of the experienced direction by Kim Manners, the writing by Stephen King and Chris Carter, and the music by Mark Snow help construct a creepy atmosphere.
I don't know entirely if it's a good episode. I don't like how it's a Scully centric one and Mulder is away, when this would have been a great case for Mulder. But i do kinda like seeing Scully's antics on her own and when she's without Mulder, and she works well without him, as seen in this episode and the one Emily was in. I don't like how she doesn't have much to do this episode. I don't like the mother, daughter and doll seem one-note. I don't like how we don't get an explanation for who or what the doll is or any explanation about anything. There's absolutey nothing here except some comments from Mulder and comments from the townsfolk about a witch, but it's not explored at all except for floating the idea. I don't like how nothing is explained, and Scully doesn't do much except follow what's happening and her putting the doll in the microwave at the end.
I like the few moments between Mulder and Scully this episode. The episode has a weird atmosphere, at times it's creepy and at other's it's really light. But i kinda dig it. And i don't feel too disappointed with nothing being explained, because i quite enjoyed the episode. I would have enjoyed it a lot more and rated it higher if things were explained and other problems rectified, but i quite enjoyed the episode enough, and found it pretty creepy.
Is this an episode where Scully finally believes paranormal over science?
This episode is annoying beyond words... #pass
A killer doll is pulled out of the ocean and given to a little girl and they start randomly killing people that piss them off. There was some decent atmosphere here and I never realized how spooky the song "Hokey Pokey" could be but it was overused and the whole episode ended up being very repetitious. I did like the interplay between a vacationing Scully and the Sheriff.

Wow, what an irritating episode, especially because of this super annoying doll and this ill-bred girl (guess she was like that because of the doll, but oh well..). The story was ok but I'm not interested in such low-horror stuff, that's just boring.
I was hoping that this episode would, at the very least, be entertaining given that the first two Child's Play movies are guilty pleasures of mine and I have a rather embarrassing fear of dolls. And yet "Chinga" really bored me. Stephen King writing an episode of The X-Files sounds awesome but here, the episode didn't seem to really fit the tone of the series for me (whether it be humour or terror) and the cold open was one of my least favourites.
The doll was laughably un-creepy, the mystery was weak and watching a somewhat passive Scully and an entirely absent-minded Mulder in this episode wasn't all that joyful either. "Chinga" lands as really forgettable for me but it at least has the great Kim Manners going for it, whose direction is one of the few sharp elements of this episode IMO.
