This episode was ok but definitely lifted by a suitably creepy Tom Noonan. Duchovny's performance was a little weak in places and the whole "dream nexus" thing was kinda dumb but overall it was still enjoyable.
Mulder dreams about a serial killer case that he solved except for one victim who was never found. He follows his dream and finds the missing body. Later, he recovers the fabric heart-shaped cut-outs from each victim's clothing and finds two additional girls were killed. Turns out the serial killer/child molester and Mulder's dreams have become intertwined...somehow.
I thought this was a very good episode and the actor who portrayed the killer named John Lee Roche was a perfectly freaky pervert and manipulator. I thought Duchovny did a nice job here as a depressed and tormented Mulder. Scully is disgusted and angered by the killer and the games he plays with Mulder. She barely keeps a lid on her rage. Man...Gillian Anderson is so good.
Secondary characters in this episode: Samantha Mulder, Mulder's Mom
Wow.. Mulder is denied once again...
Predictable but still very well done. That might seem like a contradiction but the pacing worked really well here and even though it ended much like I thought it would it still explored Mulder's past which I'm always interested in
Good to hear even more details of the disappearance of Mulder's sister, Samantha, here

Not your average X-Files episode, great nonetheless.
