"That's definitely not Chinese food I'm smelling..." - Fox Mulder
It's nice to see James Hong and B. D. Wong in an episode, even if it's only because the story deals with Chinese folklore. Hong comes across as menacing and could be Cigarette Man's cousin. Wong is effective and suave as a detective. Yama plays a loving father in a heartbreaking situation.
Aside: The characters of Mulder and Scully apparently have an unhealthy perspective, as highlighted in a scene with Wong. What's this about?
This episode features an odd story for The X-Files in that there's no "unknown" factor. It's about a group of black market organ traffickers taking advantage of superstitious and desperate people. This is a sad story (that rings true). Shame Jack Burton didn't show up to set things straight.
Hot damn young Henry Wu
The supernatural part of this is some Chinese ghosts that show up a couple of times. The first time is effective, but they seemed tacked on to the story to give it the required X-Files weirdness. This feels more like an episode of "Criminal Minds" or something.
