Good, but could be better

Classical 90s fear of computers. Pretty silly, even for 1993.

I enjoy an evil computer as much as the next guy, but I hate the way tech gets portrayed in the movies and TV. This is another example of technology silliness.

Secondary characters in this episode: Deep Throat

i mean, maybe it's because it's 2024 when i'm watching this, but its kind of endearing to see them discuss ai like it's as fringe a concept as a poltergeist

The tension and horror is done really well (even if it is a little dated lol)

getting some x-files into me that not full of woke crap... i forgot how bad the acting was, some of the stories like this one, are typical of the 90s fear factor, but at least mulder isnt pregnant.

Very, very, very weak episode.

Also, if you're in an elevator which starts free falling, your body would go towards the ceiling, not the floor... that's kindergarten physics.

The first stinker of the X-Files.

This episode had a lot of potential. And you know, it's not as bad as I remembered. It's bad, but the editing was pretty good actually for 1993.

Unfortunately, it's just too flat and bland for me to give a damn. And as the story progresses, the worse it gets. The cheesy dialog and voice for the machine really made it worse. And it all felt like a rip off from the HAL computer in Space odyssey.

I'm giving it ONE star. Definitely one of the show's most dismissable episodes. The nest scene was when Scully almost got sucked into air vent.

Highly predictable, and with a healthy dose of Hollywood's usual "we don't understand technology" mistakes.

it was a good plot, to have a Machine actually start to think by itself.
