So good the season so much better then s1 the liddle cousin was so funny.
This is where it goes from great to amazing. The whole docks storyline is incredibly well written and acted and the way it also works on moving everything around for the overarching plot that will go on in the following years is great stuff.
It was a filler season.
The entire season had content with a maximum of 6 episodes, but they chose to stretch this already boring storyline by making 12 episodes. There are unnecessary extensions like Turkish series in most episodes. I didn't like the whole Greek mafia storyline that was introduced this season. Among the characters introduced this season, I didn't like any of them except Frank, and I didn't enjoy watching them either. D'Angelo was terribly wasted; I never expected him to die out of nowhere like that. He was a character with an arc since the first season; I would have liked to see more of him, but they killed him off abruptly, which I never understood. The enjoyable parts of the season are the leftovers from the previous season. Whenever they showed Stringer or had scenes with McNulty and Bunk, I enjoyed it, but the rest was just a long, empty season.

Doesn't go in as deep on systemic issues as the first season, but that's understandable as the show's setting up longer story arcs. I love seeing the setups now, on rewatch, knowing what's coming in the later seasons. The split between the original barksdale drug story and the this-season-only stevedore stuff makes this season feel a bit less propulsive than the previous one (and the next few, based on memory) but taking a look at the white, working class life & the reasons people have to commit similar crimes to the stuff covered in the rest of the series is really interesting and still extremely relevant in the current political context.
