Great first episode. Sets the scene perfectly over 100 years ago. The correct time period makes this a better representation of HG Wells work.

Just finished the 1st episode, I thought it was quite good. Set in the early 1900's when the most advanced way of communication was a telegraph and how slow a small village reacts to the first landing of the Martins. I always compare my experience with this movie to the 1953 classic, I was most disappointed by any other remakes of the script. but this plays out more based on a story and its mood, not amazing special effects. Looking forward to the next episodes.

I must be less critical than my kin across the pond. Maybe it's lockdown boredom. But I'm finding it intriguing to watch as it's set 8 years after the book was written. I'd say it's worth a go.

Clearly low budget, mediocre acting by half of the "season regulars" but not a lof of usage of Robert Carlyle in this.
Probably he was too expensive. Intriguing nontheless, good writing in this first episode.
Overall at least, some odd decisions were made, though.

Fair first episode.
Looking forward to episode 2.

This wasn't too bad. Not bad at all actually. I like that they put it in the right period and not adapted it to our modern times. Goes more with the theme that Wells intended. Even the Sfx are quite good for a TV production.

I don't mind the added drama to be honest. You need characters to connect to and to carry the story especially since Wells book is, if I remember, told by an unnamed person.

Looking forward how this will continue.

That ending was weird. I assume the future. Amy with her kid? Not a bad 1st episode.

only lockdown worthy.

Not even laughable effects, they're so poor it's anger making. This is a worldwide distributed BBC production.

If it was an Asylym effort, it would have at least been tongue-in-cheek fun, and probably spawned another season set in a different country.

crappy smoke , horrendous red filters, rubber bricks on top of dead bodies, watchers just standing almost still, not reacting to scary things.
