The Walking Dead: Season 9

9x14 Scars

I liked what they were trying to do with this episode, and I enjoyed Michonne's interactions with Daryl, Judith and Negan, but it didn't quite hang together and suffered from some bad contrivances.

The flashbacks to an old and supposedly very good friend of Michonne's randomly being found after all this time, then doublecrossing her and which acted as the catalyst for Michonne's isolationist outlook, didn't really work. This was partly because said friend was a single episode entity so, really, who gives a shit, but also this good and supportive friend now seems to be batshit because reasons?? Also, a terrible waste of True Blood's Rutina Wesley.

I feel I'm only giving this episode a 6 because it was held together by the fab Danai Gurira and ever-reliable Norman Reedus.

Still not convinced that RJ really exists.

Not a bad episode. It feels convenient though that the villain of the week was a former friend of Michonne.. Still it was nice to have a guest appearance by Rutina Wesley of True Blood.

It seems with all strong leads gone, the writers are running out of ideas.

I never liked Michonne, but they constantly amaze me by making her even more unlikable.
So the reason for her shutting everyone out and not helpingy Derly is, that Deryl helped her saving her "Daughter"?

Also, when did all that shit go down?
This season seems to have the theme: Every Episode has to be worse than the one before.

The acting was good this episode and had a couple of nice moments but overall it was just a slow paced episode on how Michonne & Daryl got their scars which I'm sure we were all DYING to learn about. Felt like a bit of a filler epiosde to just get us to the penultimate episode

I'm confused. Can someone please tell me what the fuck did I just watch?

I hate flashback based episodes.

Judith, another side story no one cares about. We just got rid of the annoying ass son, now we have to endure this 5 year old who know all the answers to life already....

EHHH No one cares about the kids stories in TWD.

This is turning into a chick flick show with all the sappy BS in it. Im only watching this in case for some reason it leads to TWD The ones who live. Other than that, I would have stopped watching right when that dumb ass protagonist Alpha came into play. Worst TWD actress EVER!

MICHONNE AND JUDITH GOT THIS SHOW TURNING INTO A FUCKING SOAP OPERA. Crying + TWD = dumb.

FROM NEEGAN TO ALPHA, its like going from brett farve to aaron rodgers.

Really brilliant episode that took a shockingly dark turn. I love Judith, Michonne and Daryl so this was my sort of episode. Michonne killing the children was hard to watch though!!!

There's a special place in hell reserved for fucks that use kids like this. She died too fast.

An episode bouncing between the present and the past following Rick's "death," pregnant Michonne continues to look for Rick's body. An old friend, Jocelyn, stumbles upon Alexandria and Michonne gives her refuge and brings in a group of children too. One night Jocelyn and the kids leave taking Judith with them and steal tons of supplies. Michonne and Daryl go out to find them and are captured by Jocelyn's kids. The two adults are branded on their lower back and later Michonne has to fight her way through the children by killing them to save Judith and the other kids from Alexandria. In the present, Daryl and company come to Alexandria to stitch up Henry and leave. Judith runs off and Michonne goes to find her, saves her from a walker and they talk about the event with the scars and why it happened. With a wagon, they find Daryl and the others and offer a ride to the Kingdom. A couple of Whispers find the Kingdom and plan to tell Alpha about it... Danai Gurira deserves an Emmy from her performance in this episode!

Wow. I get it now. Why Michonne changed. I really liked this sort of flashback episode and how it tied into current events. I felt the same shock when Michonne had to do to those kids what she did as when Bob's leg got chowed up.

I really like Judith, I think she is the best of Carl, Rick and Michonne.

8/10 lost 2 points because feral kids MEH and the guest friend of Michone was seriously bad at acting at times- that whole getting the 2000 signatures conversation was nightmarish. there should have been a warning befor the episode - watch out for bloody violence , flashing images and Sister Sister snappy banter

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who was extremely confused by this episode and where to place it in the timeline.

This was another "good" episode but once again (and this is something that happens a lot on this show) the editing isn't all that.

So Michones friend was in the flashback only?

loading replies

I don't understand these flashbacks and that other black woman who is Michones friend.

I've never rated any show a MEH after a solid GREAT for so long. couldn't be more bored of TWD now.
