My favorite episode because I always wished for more time to read books but without anyone to discuss it with, what's it worth?

this was like 20 minutes of exposition and then the story started and was over in like two minutes. the setup was beautifully directed, the set was massive and empty and littered with reminders of the humanity that was missing from the empty wreckage, but it was all setup for a center that began, took a turn on a cheaply written snag, and ended on a crappy moral lesson in less than 150 seconds. really fucking weird episode

Classic episode. I always wondered what he did after the end.

If he’s near sighted he’d just have to hold the pages closer to his face. If he’s far sighted it’s not a problem

Great episode, but this one is really kinda heartbreaking . It IS the Twilight Zone, I guess.

Excellent episode, and in my opinion the series' best. I deeply relate to this too as I'm always wishing I could just be reading.

I remember how shocked I was the first time I saw this as a kid. The ending is still fun upon repeat viewings. One thing I had forgotten is how great Burgess Meredith is in this. He is funny and sad at the same time. I love the part where he is in the vault and the nuke goes off. The way the shock wave causes the book to flip open and watch to shatter is very cool.

The fate of Henry Bemis is certainly undeserved and one of the cruelest I can think of.

That string allowing people to wear glasses around their neck was invented too late for this guy
