It would be nice to know exactly how old Maddie is supposed to be. I guess she's presumed to be at least 16, because she seems to be fairly far along in high school and also seems to work more hours than a younger employee would be allowed to. That means Moseby is probably legally permitted (by federal law, at least) to require her to stay past the end of her shift. I'm not familiar with Boston/Massachusetts labor laws on the subject, but let's assume they don't contradict the FLSA.
