I really enjoyed this episode. I love the way Tony implicitly compares his brief time in Italy to his life at home, and finds it hard to come back to the grind of New Jersey. Paulie's American Tourist lionizing The Old Country is potent as well, though in a different, more amusing sort of way. Even Chris missing the entire trip to shoot up is a commentary in and of itself. I also liked Carmella talking to Big Pussy's wife but really expressing her own feelings and thought process. All-in-all it was a very well-done episode.

Honestly, I didn't see the point of Tony's gang going to Italy. Also, this episode kinda incorrectly portrays the Italian culture as more feminine and matriarchal, which is not very true at all. Finally, Pussy freaking out and killing someone didn't make much sense.

Good episode. Obviously they had the budget so they were able to afford filming in Italy. Not many shows had that kind of money. HBO's trust in this show is awesome.

Reminds me of the Godfather II. The contrast between Italy and America is in the center of this episode. It's the motherland alright. But it's certainly not how they imagined it. And they are not as Italian as they might have imagined. That's the fate of all immigrants and it's a disappointing realization when you always thought you upheld an ancient gangster code.

Don't understand why they came to Italy in the first place though. The car import business can't be that profitable that they had to send the boss and two assistants, can it?

If you wonder: he was talking about the "1998 Cavalese cable car crash" A US jet cut a ski lift cable in the Italian Alps.

Best scene: Tony: "Hello! I'm home" and Carmela's reaction.
