One of the best episode of the simpson!
Well, I now know the origin of the "everybody is stupid except me" meme.
The rest of this isn't bad. We got a couple good jokes (the church's sign using Homer to fearmonger everyone else is exactly what churches do in my experience), god's appearance is great - especially the first time when he's like "now excuse me, I've got to appear on a tortilla in Mexico", etc.
We also now know that Flanders has super speed or a secret twin.
Another episode that never seemed to air when I watched syndicated Simpsons night after night. What a shame.

"Homer the Heretic" is a fantastic episode that sees Homer stop attending church, with hilarious consequences. Honestly, this is perhaps the funniest episode of The Simpsons so far, with some highly memorable gags and never a dull moment throughout. My only complaint would be the plot hole with Ned Flanders. How could he save Homer when he should have been at church? Aside from that, this is a wonderfully crafted episode of The Simpsons.
Overall, fantastic.
