Best ever: Lisa needs braces

"Last Exit to Springfield" is another fantastic Simpsons episode that sees Homer lead his co-workers into going on strike. This episode has just about everything you would want from The Simpsons: great gags, solid character moments, a memorable plot, a superb fantasy sequence, a great song, and more. Honestly, aside from a somewhat underwhelming ending, this is a difficult episode to critique - it's just that fantastic.

Overall, another standout for The Simpsons.

[9.2/10] A truly hilarious episode. Rewatching it, I particularly appreciated how Homer is his usual doper self, but inadvertently wins what he's after despite, rather than because of, his best efforts. The idiot lucking into success is a fun tack to take. It's also Mr. Burns at his evil best (including his "opening tirade") and there's some nice jabs at both unions and management here. The B-story with Lisa's braces has some great moments too. My particular favorite is the school photography going "there is no god!" after he sees Lisa's crazy braces, just for the severity of the reaction. Plus there's cool visual sequences like the Yellow Submarine parody and the shots of the town's power shutting down while everyone still sings. Overall, it's one of those episodes that just moves along perfectly, with story and jokes to propel it all forward.
