Stranger things was the best other 2 also ok
One would think that this episode being both Treehouse of Horror XXX and episode #666 that it would have been much better, what a disappointment
Was better than the last couple of years. That picked stories that didn’t feel Halloweenish enough.
Like the Clockwork Orange Moe episode. This at least had a Strangers Things Story, ghosts and aliens.
I like the takes on Stranger Things and The Shape of Water for this year's Treehouse of Horror XXX; quite fitting to do The Omen with this being the 666th episode too. Though I think "Danger Things" should be done episodically based on each season of Stranger Things

[6.0/10 on a post-classic Simpsons scale] The cold open on this, starring Maggie at the center of an homage to The Omen, was the best part. It’s a neat little premise that tells a tidy little story in a short amount of time. And the gags -- from Homer’s Nemo/omen scare, to Mickey Mouse being “the sign of the beast”, to setting up impalements as the “Treehouse of Horror XXX” title were all superb.
But it was downhill from there. The opening Stranger Things parody was dutiful, but didn’t really have a take on the material beyond, “Hey, it references the 1980s a lot!” And the gags were tepid at best.
The middle segment, with Homer using a heavenly tinder app to reincarnate himself, was at least a creative idea. But here again, a lot the gags were pretty cheap, the story was pretty aimless, and the button with him possessing Moe and Moe possessing Maggie was just weird.
The last segment is the one I had the highest hopes for, but which ultimately proved to be the most disappointing. Spoofing The Shape of Water is a nice way to get Kang and Kodos involved again, and Selma makes a nice choice for the lead. But yet again, the jokes here were pretty lame, and the show hits the film’s rough beats in desultory fashion without much of a Simpson-y twist on them. I did appreciate the gag of Homer showing up seconds after Selma said it’d be a chance to send her to another galaxy, and his “cover-up, hemming and hawing” bit, but that’s about it.
Overall, this was another mild and mostly inoffensive year of Treehouse of Horror, with a stellar little opening and not much beyond it
