The Simpsons: Season 3

3x15 Homer Alone

"Lisa the Greek" is a decent episode that sees Lisa help Homer win money gambling on football. While there is some solid humour in this one, I felt the ending was confusing and poorly thought out by the writers, in my opinion. However, this episode does provide some quality character moments between Homer and Lisa, though not as solid as "Lisa's Pony".

Overall, pretty fair.

It'd be nice if we got a kind of part 2 to this. Especially since we found out just how much Marge does every day (though we've known she's done a lot for the entire series).

Her mini-adventure to find a bowling store was a good start to the episode. Maggie having her own adventure trying to find Marge is pretty much exactly how I'd assume a baby would look for their mother if they could move around on their own.

Bart and Lisa suffering in Patty and Selma's house is also pretty funny, albeit quite brief (and I know Richard Dean Anderson from Stargate SG-1 so I had to a double take when they mentioned him lmao).

Overall a solid episode. I doubt any permanent changes will come from it, but it'd be nice if we did see the family help more. Makes things seem like they have weight and consequence, ya know?

"Homer Alone" is another decent episode that sees Marge leave the family and go on vacation to "Rancho Relaxo". While there are some funny moments, I felt most of this episode was unremarkable. The scenes involving Barney were pretty solid, though.

Overall, another fair episode.

Homer said the name of Trump here as a rich man but now he is the president of US!

A pretty perfect episode whose score is only not higher because of the heights this show has hit. The way it sets up Marge's frustrations, and how the family is lost without her, on top of the fun satire of faux-exotic resorts, was tremendous, not to mention hilarious. What's more, the way the episode perfectly captured how Homer would be in over his head as a primary caregiver, and the awkwardness of being a kid staying at a relative's house, was brilliant. Plus, Maggie's yearning for her mom and surprising resourcefulness were executed perfectly as well. There were a lot of laughs here and clockwork storytelling that set up the conflict and resolved it expertly. This is not an episode that's talked about a lot, but it deserves to be mentioned more given how hilarious and well-observed it is.
