Wow! The Shannara Chronicles make Game of Thrones look like direct-to-video material in comparison. Incredibly impressive! This is how I wish the Warcraft Movie looked like. The VFX work is amazing and definitely on par with the effects of big budget movies. I hope the quality stays the same through the entire series! Great work MTV!
Dear SrCap:
Ho, you need to sit the fuck down. GOT and this show are not to be compared. TSC is a pretty decent show, with a great story and a stunning visuals. However the depth and experience of the cast pales in comparison to GOT or even shows like Vikings and The Last Kingdom. People are rating this miles above GOT must be die hard lovers of teen fantasy/teen drama, and do not appreciate the depth of serious dramas.
I'm surprised. I loved it. The scenarios, some of the characters and the plot is very promising. Also, those effects are so nice.
Well done, MTV.
game of thrones and now shannara chronicle i'll put my money on shannara it's long and amusing, liked it!
The vast landscape CGI was beautiful though I find the overall adaptation by the writers a bit lacking....it lacks tension, a sense of urgency, and dark foreboding. The dreams made a meager attempt but in the context, as seen as a dream, didn't really accomplish the task. I suppose the lack of a narrator and the skipping or glossing over details from the limitations of adapting it from book to TV makes it difficult though. I'll have to wait and see but the book definitely offers this a lot series a lot of potential.
Some things I did enjoy was the confrontation between the Elven King and Prince. I super wish they had animated what happened with the slaughter of the Chosen, that as well as the context and exposition of the Chosen. I was disappointed they also didn't explain anything about the Homeguard or Blackguard. But overall I still can't wait to see how it plays out.
I am way too late to the party, but wow this show is good! Really good! Can’t wait for what the next episode is going to bring!…sadly I know there is only 2 seasons of this show…I have the feeling it had potential for many more…
First scene and I'm already loving it! Princess going against patriachial traditions and secretly entering a competition to guard a sacred tree; defying convention and probably the King. The obstacle course (where they run with their hands tied behind their back and eyes covered) is a great intro into the action I hope continues in the rest of the season.
The pilot has really good story pacing. Within the first 15 mins we get intro of Elven society/traditions, lead characters (Amberle and Will) and mentor figure (the Druid). Also set up of two major story points: the apocalyptic future (visions of death, blood and destruction) and Wil's quest to find the Druid (as was his mother's dying wish). Both setups disrupt "normality" for leads.
Once we set up the principal cast and relevant story points, we launch into world history (former battle of the different races against demon/warlock), possible villain/love interest in Eritrea, and reveal that the Tree is dying and it will start releasing demons from their magical prison.
Overall great pilot. Good set up of world mythology (Magic, War, Tree), main character intros (Amberle, Wil, The Druid and Eretria) and a setup of the visual style of the land (Elves = artdeco/blue tones/clean cuts, Wil = Warm Tones/practical/unpolished, Druid/Magic = Similar to Elves but less elegant, more rustic/practical, Eretria = Warm tones like Wil, but more polished). So far love the casting.
Visuals: Love the look of the show. Major kudos for shooting in NZ (pristine wildlife/nature). Elven Look: Mix of traditional Elven ArtDeco with a modern clean lines look. Cool colors. Except for the sacred Tree and Amberle which features warmer tones.
Also for an MTV show, I wasn't expecting this level of CGI and practical effects. More along the lines I would expect from Syfy and Broadcast TV.
Favs!: Amberle entering the celebrations in her AMAZING! burgandy dress. Also the back of the dress is just as stunning as the front. Also: LOVE the show intro. Great song choice and completely in awe. Hits all the notes of the visual style of the show.
GOT for teenagers, I'd say. Which I'm not, anymore. But nevertheless it appears to be a decent crossover narrative of its own. And the visuals are quite impressive for a show with that kind of targeted audience. I'll hang on to it a bit more.
Oh wow, so bad, so very, very bad. I thought the books were awful. I haven't laughed this hard in a while. The "Dawson Creek Teen Elf Drama" was painful. I'm guessing someone told an television executive "Hey, we got the rights of this. Its going to be another Game of Thrones, baby!". The only way to watch this is as a drinking game.
I've been waiting a long long time for this one.
Πολύ καλό επεισόδιο! γενικά κινηματογραφική προβολή λες και ήταν. μακάρι να συνέχιση έτσι. Πολύ ωραίες και οι γυναικείες παρουσίες!

The first episode is promising! The effects used are amazing and really looked expensive!! ++ I liked how it's just episode 1 yet there is already some action and thrilling scenes! Bc most of the fantasy shows I've watched started very slow.
AND PLEASE I AM SO SAD THAT LORIN DIED ☹☹ HE AND AMBERLE LOOKS CUTE TOGETHER ☹☹
Tho, on the other hand, I find Wil interesting :joy: hIS PERSONALITY AND HIS TRAIT OF BEING UNABLE TO BE QUIET IS JUST SO FUNNY TO ME :joy:
Eretria looks stunning :heartpulse: I really shipped her with Wil until she stole the elfstones :skull: but please, THE SEXUAL TENSION BETWEEN HER AND WIL DURING THE BATH SCENE WAS IMMENSE :flushed::flushed::flushed:
