Ok so I watch the finale and almost tear up. I thought they did a great job ending the show. But then, as I'm sitting at my office, I think about something.. ok so Colt sells his cattle to Lisa for the cost of Iron River Ranch. In other words, Colt no longer has cattle but Beau has his ranch back. That's all well and good, except Beau has no cattle either, and he & Joann gave their nest egg to Joann's kid for that Yogurt business. So neither ranch has any cattle, and neither ranch owner has any money. Colt was already talking about how broke and Abbie are, and he just sold his only tangible asset besides his ranch (or a kidney). What happens now?
The Ranch really went down hill in the last two seasons. I felt part 8 was flat. Comedic timing was way off. Storylines - repetitive. I was exited for the last part because I thought the writers will get more creative and risky since these are the last episodes, but maybe they didn’t know the show will end after this season, so there was nothing new, different or thrilling. I fast forward through many scenes because I just wanted to see how it all. I lost interest after Heather was revealed as Nick’s killer.
Maggie’s storylines have always been filler, and I have never liked her, but I don’t know why they completely changed her. She has always been more neutral, that’s why her anti-gun views, normalizing cults and new lesbian love felt out of place. The reason I like The Ranch is because it is one of the very few shows out there that isn't all “woke” but they really tried to cover all the bases with Maggie this last season. I don’t want right or left wing stances shoved down my throat while watching TV.
Once Rooster died, it wasn't the same show, they tried their best introducing Luke but he didn't fit in at all. The PTSD-stricken veteran storyline has been done a millions time before, and I don’t feel sad for people injured while invading other countries, especially when the United States does not have compulsory military service, so no one is forcing you to go kill other people in their homeland.
I think the finale was fine but insanely rushed. Everyone seems to have gotten a happy ending but I wish it was a little more flushed out. It was nice to see Colt finally redeeming himself (after four seasons of always doing the wrong thing) but that happened all of a sudden, and was very predictable.
The best part of the entire season was easily Colt talking to Rooster through Siri and Colt's Christmas gift to Beau. I also liked that Colt and Abby got back together, the writers finally stopped with the will-they-won't-they crap, wish we could've seen their house finished.

Ok that was a really good series finale! Just was sad and heartwarming at the same time. Glad Beau got the ranch back and Colt was able to do the right thing and win that case. Sad that it's actually over but also glad it got to go out while it was still a fun show to watch.
