The Promised Neverland 2019

We need more anime like this. This show is a dark, mysterious, psychological thriller without a single filler episode. Despite only possessing a sliver of a heart, there were times when I almost got emotional. This show won't make you laugh. It's not something casual to watch for a few minutes before flipping to something else. It's a show that hurts yet you want to watch as much as you can. It leaves you thinking after almost every episode. Looking forward to the second season so I can learn more about this world and see what the characters are able to accomplish...

I really liked this first season, it reminds me a lot of Death Note with how it feels like a game with the stakes being lives. Each episode created new developments and by the end of the season I was breathless. The characters were likable enough that I genuinely cared about their safety, which is crucial for a show like this. My biggest complaint would be that not a whole lot goes on in terms of animation. Not saying the animation's bad, it's quite good, but as it's mostly dialogue based there's not much happening on screen. A must watch if you like big brain strategies or being way too stressed out over the outcome of a fictional scenario.

EDIT: I stand by the fact that the first season is a masterpiece, but don't watch the second season. I have never seen a show be ruined so quickly firsthand, though I've heard legend of such things. Only watch season two to see how NOT to continue a show, and read the manga instead.

The Promised Neverland started great and compelling until Season 2 comes and pulls away from the source material, they had to skipped 140+ chapters just to end so abruptly awful.

This is my advice : just watch season 1 and stop.
The rest of the manga and anime are going to suck real bad.

2nd season does not exist!!!

An excellent anime. I am not good with keeping up with Anime trends but was lucky enough to come across this one. Well done.

Pro-tip: don't watch Season 2.

It shouldn't be season 2

Just watch the first season, NEVER GO FOR THE SECOND.

Is this worth a watch? Looks interesting.

It was off to a great start with season 1. Such a shame they ruined everything in season 2. I would highly recommend you read the manga instead, it's amazing.

the first season was so good and I was really looking forward to the second one but it misses so much from the manga and leaves so many questions by the time you've finished. There was a whole montage at the end that showed scenes that would have been really important but they just brushed over it all with no context.

The first saison is perfect ! But the second is terrible… if you really want to know the end of this story please read the manga …

It was great.
Then everything changed when Season 2 attacked.

The second season doesn’t exist.

And with the last episode, The Promised Neverland concludes. A first competent season, with a promise of deeper themes; and a downright dissapointing second season. At least we have the manga. Oh, right, that one also kinda got dull after a couple of arcs.

season 2 has come please update

The rating given is not to spread hate or anything overall the series is good which could have been great.

Season 1- 9/10
Excellent series for a pilot season. One of the best series with great cliffhangers.

Season 2- First till episode 8 it did go great and the last episode. I don't know why they did it!! that Lousy writing.
4/10

It felt like after creating the content for 10 episodes in the last episode they ran out of Budget. And of all to use a technologically advanced pen to open the secret door created 1000 yrs back??. Really wish they showcased the STAIRS in the manga instead of the door to have some dramatic effect.
Wish one day someone will remake it with the original manga content :hamster:

God ..!!! the really stupid ending.. had great potential. Really disappointed

Lost, Dexter, GOT, Soul Eater, and now 'The promised neverland'

Wow, what a great cliffhanger. Just binge watched all of Season 1 today and I can't wait to see where it goes in Season 2. I'm still hoping Norman isn't really dead

This is definitely worth a watch. After watching all those fan service anime(s), this was a good change of pace.
Now I am waiting for the Second Season to know about the the uncleared parts of the story. I hope there don't spoil the thrill as the main aspect of the story was already solved.

Edit: Season 2 was a little lackluster but it was an important watch as it clears the uncleared parts from Season 1.

After watching Season 1, Go for Manga.

I liked the 1st season a lot, the set up and the intrigue were enough to keep me going, now season 2 is a bit of a let down, at least after episode 2 where you are given a layout of the major story plot.

I don't like how the story is developing, hopefully there will be change of atmosphere soon that deviates from what seems to be the main plot. Essentially the main plot makes it predictably boring and extremely exotic. I'll take any good sub-plot (which was the case of S1) over what S2 is laying out, but if that doesn't happen soon I'll just move on to another show.

must watch the show . Also go with the manga :grinning: for better ending

I think the back half was a bit rushed, I think for production issues, but overall I appreciated this show's ability to make me think I knew what was going on, only to be proven wrong. It really relies on the twists, but they tended to work for me.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Shonen Jump adaptation airing in NoitaminA's programming block but I got pleasantly surprised. Doing this kind of story with kids is a very easy hook and while mainly twist based it works quite well for the most part. Really loved the conclusion of the arc in regards to Mama too. I'd imagine further seasons to be more in line with regular shounen fare so we'll see how this goes.
