I know they don't like to bring up the whole "humanity switch" thing in the Originals (which, in theory, might be explained by what Rose said - that, when you're old enough, the switch no longer exists anymore and one can only pretend that it does, but which in all likelihood is due to the fact that it's a ridiculous concept and does not fit the show's 'seriousness') - but I do almost believe it has been flipped here.
