TBH the only good thing about this episode were those last few minutes. Otherwise, it was pretty underwhelming for a season finale.

I have to agree with @Anto Butera. This was an ordinary episode (it was good not great) with an awesome epilogue.

See, this is what I'm talking about. They're even acknowledging they're making Red John into a freaking supernatural being. What he just pulled off? Absolutely impossible. How were they ever planning to make Red John live up to this reputation they've built?...

They need to advance this red John business

In spite of the fact that the case in in some ways rather pedestrian I think this is an excellent episode. It's just coming way too late. The episode concerns a "victim with a link to Jane's past" except that link is super light. It wasn't exactly emphasized properly to give the episode the dramatic feel that it needs. Which is unfortunate because the central plot takes some major steps in this episode. Steps we've been waiting on for SEASONS at this point. I was ok with the Red John fakeout seasons ago but this is the kind of thing I was expecting to show up soon afterwards. It's taken WAY too long to get here.
